Way Forward Prayer Emphasis
September 17th - 23rd
For our Way Forward Prayer emphasis this week, please pray for the IOHUMC Weekday Ministries Program (formerly the Preschool and First Things First Programs, combined in 2017). Savannah Magazine has named them the #1 Preschool in Savannah. Pray joyfully in celebration for this recognition of the great work done by the leadership and teachers in this amazing program. They continue to be a great blessing to students and parents, in our church and in the community. Prayerfully consider ways that you can show your enthusiasm, support, and respect for their accomplishments.

New! Sunday Morning Class for Parents: Survivors from the Valley
Survivors from the Valley, our new Sunday morning class for parents, continues this Sunday, September 17th, at 10:30 AM in Room 15. Our study is based on the book, "Bags: Helping Your Kids Lighten the Load." Do you want your kids to grow up to be emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually healthy? We do, too! More and more kids today are struggling to live into this dream. As they go through life, they encounter people and situations that lead them to pack and carry some enormous emotional baggage that holds them back from living in the grace and freedom God intended.
This study offers parents practical strategies to leverage the influence of these bags, and to prevent some of them from getting packed in the first place! The class is taught by Wendy Williamson, Bob Akin, and Carolyn Hannaford. For more information, contact Rev. Meg Procopio (mprocopio@iohumc.com).

Wednesday Prayer Meeting
"People ask, "Which is more important - private prayer or corporate prayer?" The answer is yes. This is like asking, "Which is more important for walking - your right leg or your left leg?" - Daniel Henderson
Prayer is a Christian's lifeline. Jesus tells us that where two or three are gathered together in His name, He will be there in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:-19-20) Each Wednesday evening you are invited to come to the Sanctuary at 5:30 PM for corporate prayer. You can come and go as the Holy Spirit directs you. You need not pray out loud. This is our opportunity to join together in prayer lifting up our Church, pastors, staff, world, and persons in need of healing, peace, strength, or comfort. If you cannot attend, but have a prayer request, you may contact the church office at (912)355-8527.

“Wesley Community Centers of Savannah, Inc. continues to be a pillar of hope and help for people in time of need. We are grateful for the support from Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, as you have always kept Wesley’s mission at the forefront of how you choose to help the least of these... Your support has helped us feed the hungry, clothe the naked, provide financial help to clients in times of crisis, and you show your LOVE for the women, children, and families who come to us for help. We are truly grateful for you being a vessel for God’s people!”

Good News Sunday School Class
They are simple phrases. They sound Christian—like something you might find in the Bible. We’ve all heard these words. Maybe we’ve said them. They capture some element of truth, yet they miss the point in important ways. Join the Good News Sunday School Class in this 5-week Bible study to search for the whole truth by comparing common Christian clichés with the wisdom found in Scripture.
The clichés include:
Everything happens for a reason.
God helps those who help themselves.
God won’t give you more than you can handle.
God said it, I believe it, that settles it.
Love the sinner, hate the sin.
