Holding Hope Grief Group

Starting September 17th at

10:30 AM | Green House Room 123

Grief does not simply disappear with time — it becomes part of the story we carry. Life after loss expands to somehow hold both deep sorrow and the possibility of joy again.

Holding Hope is a supportive community for those who have experienced the death of someone they love. Together, we make space for grief, share in the comfort of others who understand, and remind one another that no one has to walk this journey alone.

Holding Hope will begin on September 17th and continue to meet on the third Thursday of each month at 10:30 AM in the Green House Living Room (Room 123).

For more information, contact Rev. Meg Procopio, at mprocopio@iohumc.com.

What Will Your Generosity Make Possible?

Do you want to maximize your generosity but don't think you can? Do you feel led to include charitable giving in your estate planning but don't know how, or you don't even have a will?

Dr. Tim Deatrick, Director of Professional Services with MortarStone, will be joining us at IOHUMC in just a few weeks and is an expert at answering these exact questions.

Rev. Procopio recently heard Tim speak at a conference and was deeply grateful for his leadership on financial stewardship as a spiritual practice. Often including humor, he shared that spirituality must be "grounded in dirt," and noted that Jesus never actually asked the Rich Young Ruler for funding.

Dr. Deatrick will join us on September 19 and 20 to lead workshops, provide one-on-one financial advisory sessions, bring the message in Sunday worship, and inspire us during the Sunday School hour. Through these many avenues, he will share a fresh and practical perspective on financial stewardship as a spiritual practice.

Here are three ways to take advantage of this valuable resource:

  • Attend a Saturday morning workshop
  • Sign-up for a one-on-one financial advisory session Saturday or Sunday afternoon
  • Come to church and Sunday School on Sunday

Dr. Deatrick is not an attorney, insurance agent, or wealth manager. He is a Certified Philanthropic Advisor (CAP) who helps individuals explore creative ways to make charitable gifts through non-cash assets and thoughtfully include charitable causes in estate plans. He has no products to sell, and through his partnership with Isle of Hope UMC, all sessions are offered free of charge. We hope his visit sparks your curiosity and offers new ways to think about generosity, faith, and the legacy we leave.

Together, we’ll talk about vulnerability, encouragement, forgiveness, healthy boundaries, and serving others, with Jesus as our example and Scripture as our foundation.

Rest & Resonance: An Immersive Experience of Sound and Stillness

Sunday, October 18 at 4:00 PM | Ministry Center

Step away from the noise and busyness of daily life and enter a space designed for rest, reflection, and renewal. Through resonant sounds, gentle tones, moments of silence, and thoughtfully selected readings, participants will be invited to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with a sense of peace, wonder, and presence.

This is not a concert, lecture, or worship service. Rather, it is an opportunity to rest, listen, and be present in a carefully curated environment of sound and stillness.

Participants are welcome to close their eyes, sit quietly, recline, or simply listen in whatever way feels most comfortable. No musical experience is required—simply come as you are.
