A NOTE FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear Park Academy Community,

Park Academy has an eighteen-year history of serving students with dyslexia and other learning differences in a traditional school setting. Recognizing that the community’s need extends beyond our school walls, the Park Academy Board of Directors recently voted to create the Park Center. This new initiative will provide more services for community members. We are pleased to share the launch of the Park Center Summer Camp and After School Tutoring Programs

We will continue to proudly serve students on our Lake Oswego campus in our brick and mortar school. However, we are eager to impact more students with the creation of the Park Center. Ultimately our dream is to increase access to high quality structured literacy practices for the thousands of students navigating school and the world with dyslexia. Park Academy, in conjunction with the Park Center increases our capacity further this mission!

As the Park Center develops and grows, we will begin to offer training opportunities for tutors and teachers who contract with The Park Center and eventually to the broader education community. This is an emerging branch of the Center and more details will be announced as we develop partnerships and better understand the community's need for these services.

Everyone at Park Academy is very grateful for your support. We hope you and your family have a lovely holiday season. We wish you all the best in 2024!

Sincerely,

Craig Lowery

Head of School

NEW BLOG POST

A Look Into an Orton Gillingham Routine at Park Academy

Check out our latest blog and video, "A look into an Orton Gillingham Routine at Park Academy," on our website, where we provide a foundational understanding of the many skills it takes to become a skilled reader, an overview of Park Academy's reading program, and highlight the purpose of three Orton Gillingham routines in Park Academy's Reading Teacher, Ms. Greenough's, 2nd period reading class.

DOUBLE YOUR END OF YEAR CONTRIBUTION TO PARK ACADEMY

Will you consider an end of the year gift to Park Academy? Our friends at the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund have generously issued a matching grant of $50,000.  They will match all donations, individual gifts of $1 to $5,000, up to a total of $50,000.  Every dollar you contribute will automatically double – no gift is too small and every gift makes an impact on students’ lives!

As a part of the Park Academy family, you understand the life changing work happening on our campus every day. We help students with dyslexia nurture their self-confidence and hone their literacy skills. We see this as they learn to value themselves as the incredible and talented students we know them to be. There is much excitement, energy and enthusiasm for our interventions but we continue to need your help.

Our tuition is an investment, sometimes a sacrifice for many of our families. While we try to keep Park Academy as affordable as possible, there is a gap of $7,000 per student between our actual costs and tuition. It is because of the generosity of others that we are able to close this gap and to provide financial aid to families who otherwise would not be able to join Park Academy.  Click the button below to be directed to our website where you can click the donate button to make your gift.
