Library eNews | September 2025

Another busy season is beginning at the library as we kick off our fall programming season. You can see that in our September calendar, which is jam-packed with programs and events for all ages as we return to a more normal schedule following a programming break in August. Meanwhile, we're celebrating the first birthday of the Story Center, which opened at the 2024 Constitution Square Festival. The Story Center is continuing its work to preserve the history of Boyle County and make it more accessible through its programs and through the memory labs that allow patrons to preserve their photos, videos and other records.

Story Center turns 1 this month!

It's been an incredible year launching the Story Center for the communities of Boyle County. Be sure to stop by during the Constitution Square Festival for some interactive activities at Grayson's Tavern.

What does the Story Center do? The Story Center provides patrons with the tools to preserve and digitize their own records, photos, film, and videos in the Memory Lab. It also provides the equipment to record oral histories in the Oral History Studio. These free services are available on-site at Grayson's Tavern and soon via the mobile lab.

Story Center events: This month Story Center staff is partnering with Northeast Document Conservation Center during Disaster Preparedness Month for a hands-on training on how to care for your collections after a weather event.

They are also teaming up with the Daughters of the American Revolution - St. Asaph Chapter to bring two genealogy events to the library: "Revolutionary Ancestors" and "Genealogy 101." You'll learn common tips & tricks for researching your ancestors or finding a Revolutionary War patriot in your family's past. Click here for all upcoming Story Center events.
