We were treated to a tour of the Sherman House Museum during our Spring Reunion. This home is the birthplace of General William Tecumseh Sherman and his younger brother Senator John Sherman and home of the remarkable Sherman Family. Our Reunion began with lunch at the Downtown Bistro. We walked a short distance to the Ohio Glass Museum and enjoyed with a guided tour of Libby Glass collections from 1818-2021. Dinner was at O’Huids Galeic Pub. We held a short business meeting, along with the fun and fellowship,
Greetings!

Praying for a fun and safe summer for all!

You missed out on an enjoyable time with friends, good food and a great time if you were unable to attend our Spring Reunion in Lancaster May 17-18, Thanks go out to Mike Lieber for all his work and planning for this great Reunion.

Our chapter is full of great leaders. For example, Dave Patterson, with membership for our chapter and the National YMCA Alumni Board; Tony Delisio, working with World Service and Christian Emphasis; Steve Gunn, working with Emergency Assistance Fund (EAF) and the National Service Project; Wayne Uhrig leadership with the International Service Corp; Cindy Koenig-Daggs is serving on the National YMCA Alumni Board working with finances; Dave Saunders leads our chapter's Retired Director of the Year Award; John Mack with the Fall Reunion; Dianne Clark with her work with the newsletter and our chapter finances and our Executive Committee.

The trouble with listing people you always leave someone out. I can truly say that our chapter has many individuals that are great leaders and are sharing this talent with all of us in our chapter.

Mark your calendar for the Chambers Fall Reunion in Cleveland Sept. 13-15. John Mack has planned what looks like a wonderful Reunion. (See story below.)
YMCA Alumni Reunion 2022 in New Orleans is Nov. 2-4. It is not too late to sign up. Click HERE for more information. There will be exciting times and fellowship in a great city.

National Service Project:
Underway in Dupree, SD
The National Service Project campaign for 2022 is now over. More than $525,000 was raised in cash and pledges on a three-year goal of $600,000.

There were over 435 conversations that were started with many YMCA Alumni and friends about the Project. The Chambers Chapter raised over $18,000 in cash and three-year pledges and had over 40 conversations during the campaign from January through March. Way to go Chambers Chapter members! I am so proud of you!

Special thanks to Dick Fullmer and Connie Clark for their campaign leadership for our chapter and our success for the amount raised in 2022. Also, I wanted to thank Tony Delisio, Wayne Uhrig, Dianne Clark, Mike Frith, and the whole team in general (more than 15 of our members who worked on the campaign) and reached out to other YMCA Alumni as well as their friends, relatives and neighbors to tell the National Service Project story.
Chambers has some 12 members who have expressed an interest in going to work either this year or next. Way to go everyone.

I am so excited for the Sioux YMCA Tiny Home Project and what it will mean for the people they serve in the coming years!

For more information about volunteering for a week in South Dakota contact Tony Delisio or me. Four more waves to go in 2022. For a complete budget and Tiny Home diagrams contact me. Visit the Case for Support for project details.

The Emergency Assistance Fund continues to assist those less fortunate nationwide. There have been some applications received from the various retirees and other staff thus far in 2022. The Caring Committee will evaluate each application and make a determination as to need and award gifts accordingly.

If you know of a YMCA Alumni who may be in need of assistance, please contact Steve Gunn, our Chambers Chapter representative, and he can assist you with help in questions and for a possible grant application. Phone is (740) 412-7934.

Right now, the giving for EAF is very low nationally as well as in our chapter.
Please donate soon to help us reach our Chambers goal of $6,000 for 2022. Click the button below to donate securely online.

YMCA World Service:
Serving the global Y movement
By Tony Delisio, World Service Chair
There are YMCAs in more than 119 counties, each helping people to reach their full potential for a better future. And, speaking of the future – young people between the ages of 15 and 24 comprise the largest generation in the world’s history.

Globally aware, culturally competent, and socially inclusive, these 1.2 billion change-makers have the ideas, passion, and motivation to address society’s most pressing challenges.

Thanks to partners like YMCA Alumni, YMCA World Service works with the Global Y Movement to create opportunities for more young people to lead positive change and advance equity in their communities and around the world.

By now, you should have received a mailing that highlights how contributions to YMCA World Service is empowering young leaders to "Change the World for Good."

To date, Chambers Chapter giving to the 2022 World Service Campaign stands at $600 from four donors. We are confident that chapter giving will match or exceed last year’s campaign ($4,745 from 26 donors) and we are most appreciative of the support we receive on an annual basis.

Collectively, the 2022 World Service Campaign has raised just over $1.5 million. Of this amount, $900,000 has been raised to support YMCAs responding to the crisis in Ukraine.

Finally, we want to encourage you to consider a gift to YMCA World Service this year. Gifts will be accepted through the end of 2022. Your gift, no matter the size, is important and creates positive change.

By Tony Delisio, Prayer Chain Chair

Here is the devotion (scripture passage and reflection) that I shared at our Chambers Chapter dinner meeting in Lancaster, Ohio at our Spring Reunion:

    Jesus said:
“My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.
No one can take them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,
And no one can take them out of the Father’s hand.
The Father and I are one.”

Like so many of His sheep, sometimes I wander and get off course. Sometimes I get lost. But that doesn’t stop Him from calling out to me in that familiar voice of His to come back to the flock. He never gives up on me, no matter what I do.

Prayer does make a difference.

Do you have a need for prayer? Whenever you, a family member or friend is in need of prayers, you can turn to your friends with the Chambers Chapter to help lift up your intentions to God in prayer.

Simply contact me with your prayer request and we will send a message to all Chambers Chapter members via email asking for prayers and healing.
An editor's note...
By Dianne Clark, Chambers Chatter Editor
Spring is ending on a very busy note for my husband and me. I am anticipating that summer will be just as busy. While preparing our June newsletter, I realized a lot of my activities are still solidly YMCA related.

We are so lucky to be able to stay in contact with each other. If you know anyone that qualifies for our group, I encourage you to reach out to them and remind them that we are open to all levels of staff.

I hope you enjoy the new format for Chambers Chapter. Have a safe and happy summer. I look forward to seeing you in Cleveland. --Dianne
