Provide input on proposed pedestrian and biking improvement projects
Share your thoughts on proposed pedestrian and biking improvement projects with the Washington County Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee (URMDAC) through an online open house.

Washington County is allocating $6.5 million in Urban Road Maintenance District (URMD) funding for construction of sidewalks, pedestrian crossings and bicycle facilities. URMDAC members have developed a 150% Proposed Project List – a list of projects totaling about $9.95 million. Comments received in the online open house will help members trim the list to by about $3.45 million to fit within the $6.5 million funding allocation.

Comments submitted through the online open house will be accepted through 5 p.m. Friday, July 2. URMDAC members will use comments received to help create a final list of projects to recommend to the Washington County Board of Commissioners for adoption.

Since 2011, 62 Pedestrian and Biking Improvement Projects totaling over $28.7 million from URMD and $4.4 million from other sources have been funded. To be considered, proposed projects must improve pedestrian and/or biking safety and must be located within the URMD.

Poll results: Open house formats
Last week's LUT News (Week of May 31) included a poll asking readers about their open house preferences.

Seventy-four people participated in the poll:

  • In-person open houses only: 3 (4%)

  • Online open houses only: 16 (22%)

  • A mix of both online and in-person open houses: 55 (74%)

Thanks to all who participated. LUT staff will consider these results once in-person events are possible.
