Roy Rogers Road open house is April 7
Comment on the Roy Rogers Road Improvement Project at an open house from 5-7 p.m. April 7 at the Sherwood Police Department Community Room, 20495 SW Borchers Drive.

The project team will be available to answer questions and gather input from the public about design alternatives for Roy Rogers Road, between Borchers Drive and Chicken Creek. 

No formal presentation is planned; stop by any time during open house hours. Comments and questions may also be sent to lutproj@co.washington.or.us.
Roy Rogers Road will be widened, between Chicken Creek and Borchers Drive, to five lanes. Improvements include:

  • Five travel lanes (one lane in each direction and a center turn lane)

  • Bike lanes

  • Sidewalks

  • Storm drainage

  • Street lighting

The estimated $14 million project is funded through the County’s Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). Construction is expected to begin in summer 2021 and continue through the summer 2023.

This project is being coordinated with the Willamette Water Supply Program to install a 66-inch drinking water line in conjunction with road improvements.

Short-term rentals issue paper
Short-term Rentals: Issues and Considerations, Washington County Long Range Planning Issue Paper No. 2020-01, is available for public review and comment through March 26.

Washington County does not currently regulate short-term rentals. But in recent years, several community members have raised concerns with these rentals, including noise, on-street parking, trash and other issues associated with community livability.

The board of Commissioners asked Community Planning staff to prepare this issue paper as part of the 2019-20 Long Range Planning Work Program. The issue paper, and public comments received before March 26, will help inform the Board's position. The Board will provide direction to staff as part of its April decision on the 2020-21 Long Range Draft Work Program. Submit comments 

Draft 2020-21 Road Maintenance Program
The Draft 2020-21 Road Maintenance Program, which lists proposed maintenance activity for FY 2020-21, is available for input.

Comment online or by email before 5 p.m. April 3. Comments received will help staff compile the final project list. The Road Maintenance Program will be submitted to the Washington County Board of Commissioners for action in June.

Oregon Transportation Commission online open house
The Oregon Transportation Commission (OTC) is asking the public to participate in an online open house on the Draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

The Draft STIP is a list of projects that the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will start work on in 2021, pending approval of the final list from the OTC.

The online open house ends April 10.

  • Elwert Road, between the Kruger and Edy roads, through April 1, for construction of the Elwert/Kruger roundabout project. Detour map

Lane closures

NOTE:   This information is provided here as a courtesy only.   Neighborhood meetings are required before developers submit certain land use applications to the County (for areas outside cities).These meetings provide a forum for the developer, affected CPO (Community Participation Organization) and nearby property owners to discuss the proposal informally. County staff do not schedule or attend these meetings.
