Washington County employee named Building Supervisor of the Year
For the fourth consecutive year, a Washington County Land Use & Transportation (LUT) Building Services employee has been honored by the Oregon Building Officials Association (OBOA).

Derrick Moon, LUT Building Services Supervisor, was named OBOA State of Oregon Supervisor of the Year during the organization’s annual meeting in August. This morning (Nov. 3), Moon was honored during the Washington County Board County Board of Commissioners meeting for his achievement.

Ted Zuk, OBOA past president, said Moon’s nomination for the award described him as an understanding supervisor with strong communication and delegation skills.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenging time for many, and at the start of this period, many building departments and jurisdictions were unsure of how to handle the situation,” Zuk said. “Thanks to Derrick, the Washington County (Building Services) Plan Review team was able to continue running smoothly without much change."

“Derrick has been instrumental in introducing both the Accela and ProjectDox software to the Washington County building and development communities,” said Scott Linfesty, Washington County Building Official. “He has strong leadership skills and is a valuable asset to Building Services.”

The OBOA represents building officials and building code professional throughout Oregon. Annually it seeks nominations for individuals who go above and beyond in the building safety profession. In addition to Moon’s award, other OBOA awards presented to Building Services staff include:

The independent committee will be appointed by the Metro Council to help keep Metro accountable and transparent in its use of both the bond and the capital funds.
