September 2018 REALTORS ® Digest
Successful Event!!

On August 6th, our Affiliates sponsored a Document Destruction event, allowing members to have any unwanted documents securely shredded for free! In addition, at the same event, our Community Awareness Committee partnered with our Affiliates to help " Fill-the-Bus " for much needed new supplies to benefit Families in Transition (FIT) and Forward Paths Foundation for Lake & Sumter Counties.

Members who participated in the Document Destruction and/or Fill-the-Bus, received lunch at one of two food trucks present during the event.

A highly successful event as hundreds of pounds of documents were shredded and many supplies were collected. Over $600 in gift cards.... over 75 bottles of shampoo... 120 bars of soap.... 250 toothbrushes.... 200 tubes of toothpaste.... 25 bottles of laundry detergent... etc, etc!

Thank you to everyone who participated!
Thanks to YOU!
Thanks to the generosity of our members, RALSC was able to assist Families in Transition (FIT) and Forward Paths Foundation for Lake & Sumter Counties through member donations from the 2018 dues billing. In addition, the much needed supplies that were collected from the August 6th "Fill-the-Bus" event were also provided to each organization.

Thank you to everyone who made a contribution on your dues billing, as well as made a supply donation for these organizations.

FREC changed license renewal requirements
You still need 14-hours of the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) approved continuing education to renew a Fla. real estate license – but the continuing education course requirements have changed.
The rule directly impacts real estate licensees renewing their license beginning Sept. 30, 2018. However, the change does not impact post-licensing education requirements that apply to renewal of an initial sales associate or broker's license.

Under the new rule, each licensee will need to complete a 3-hour Ethics and Business Practices course approved by FREC. Florida real estate licensees who do not complete one of these courses, along with the other courses outlined below, before the Sept. 30, 2018, deadline, will not be able to renew their real estate license and will automatically become involuntarily inactive.
Under the continuing education 14-hour requirement licensees must complete the following for all license renewals beginning Sept. 30, 2018:
  • 3-hour Core Law course
  • 3-hour Ethics and Business Practices course
  • 8-hours of Specialty courses (which may include a second Core Law course)

Once the CE requirements have been satisfied, a real estate licensee can complete the other license renewal-requirements required by FREC.
Do you need Core Law or Code of Ethics?
Both are coming to RALSC on September 26th.
