Our Trail Ambassadors through the
Alliance for Watershed Education and
PowerCorps PHL contributed to our community outreach efforts, environmental education in Tacony Creek Park and bringing energy and enthusiasm to our team. We appreciate you!
Environmental Education with Recreation Centers
This summer, we led environmental education programs at Tacony Creek Park gateways using the Creekmobile
. Local rec centers
Ziehler Playground, Ferko Recreation Center and
Piccoli Playground met up with us along the trail for fun lessons about how we can all take care of our creek and park.
Roving Naturalists
in Tacony Creek Park
Have you ever been curious about what plants or animals live in the park? Every Saturday morning we walked with participants along the trail, identifying the wildlife we found using the free
iNaturalist app.
Check out what we've seen!
Thanks for joining us!
WeWalk PHL
For the past few months, community members have exercised and walked the trails of Tacony Creek Park together. See
here to meet neighbors pledging to taking care of themselves! Watch for news about walking groups starting again this fall!
Nature's Hidden Surprises
Judith Gratz, our environmental educator led us on walks in Tacony Creek Park to discover many surprises. We learned about butterflies, bird migrations, watersheds, and so much more. Join us every month for a new adventure!
Park Safety
New Gate for Olney Avenue and Tabor Road gateway
Illegal dumping and vehicles on the trail have been a problem facing the park for a long time. Through a grant from Fed Ex and the
Rails-To-Trails Conservancy, and with support from Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, we've installed a brand new gate and bollard at the Olney Avenue and Tabor Road park entrance. This gate and boulders will help prevent people illegally driving vehicles into the park while allowing pedestrians and bicycles to enter.
Walks through Tacony Creek Park with Police
Thank you to the 15th 24th, 25th, 2nd and 35th Police Districts for meeting with us at various Tacony Creek Park gateways to discuss safety and environmental concerns such as ATV usage and illegal dumping. Thank you for getting to know our TCP trails and committing to support our efforts to make the park safe for residents.
Between September 15 to 22, use the free iNaturalist mobile app to track the wildlife you see across our watershed. Then add these sightings to our growing TTF page.
Participate on your own from anywhere in the watershed using the app, or join us for our in-person mini-blitzes throughout the week! Stay tuned for info about additional in-person events you can join
.
