Galaxy FBO Marks One Year Milestone

On Tuesday, January 16, Galaxy FBO General Manager Jamie Munoz gave Mayor Bruce Arfsten, Airport Director Joel Jenkinson, Assistant Airport Director Darci Neuzil, and other senior staff a glance into the company's first year at Addison Airport. Galaxy opened in early November 2022 and within its first week was one of only three stops on the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola. Munoz shared that hangars and offices are both fully occupied. Galaxy's fuel sales exceeded all expectations, and numbers indicate that a large percentage of those sales were made to new Addison Airport users. They are continuing to invest in the new business with significant equipment purchases and facility updates. They debuted a new special event room to the Addison group on Tuesday that will be available for outside rentals.

Thank you to Galaxy for choosing Addison Airport and congratulations on a banner first year.

DART Hosts Bi-Annual Silver Line Meeting

DART hosted its bi-annual Silver Line Meeting on Thursday, January 18 at the Addison Conference Centre. Representatives from the design-build contractor Archer Western Herzog (AWH) joined the DART team to share updates about construction, trains, and more.

Four of the eight trains DART has ordered for the Silver Line have already been delivered and the remaining four will arrive in early February. These self-propulsion vehicles will be housed in Plano near Shiloh Road. DART will begin testing vehicles on the line in Addison in the fourth quarter of 2024.

In Addison, the Midway Bridge is 100% complete, as are the Addison Road, Quorum Drive, and Spectrum crossings. The Addison station is 85% complete. Platform and canopy work is currently underway. Canopy lighting has been installed and is being tested.

AWH also shared that DART and the City of Dallas have agreed to close a portion of Hillcrest Road – between Frankford Road and Wester Way – for 52 weeks beginning Thursday, January 25. Detours will send drivers to Preston and Coit roads, with limited access through neighborhood streets. This 1/5-mile section will remain closed until Friday, January 24, 2025.

You can find more information and sign up for project alerts at www.DART.org/SilverLine.

January 19 is the Last Day to Volunteer to Assist with Metrocrest Services Point-In-Time Count for the Metrocrest area

Volunteers are needed on the evening of January 25 to help with the 2024 Point-in-Time (PIT) count. The PIT count is a nationwide event that brings together volunteers, community leaders, and street outreach workers to conduct a census of persons experiencing homelessness. Metrocrest Services will conduct the 2024 PIT count in Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, and Farmers Branch. Volunteers will work in teams alongside a street outreach expert to walk designated areas collecting census data. The information collected will help us understand the extent of homelessness in the Metrocrest area and provide data on Metrocrest Services’ efforts to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring. Friday, January 19 is the last day to email volunteermanager@metrocrestservices.org to learn more and sign up to join the Metrocrest Services PIT Count Volunteer Team!
