Tomatoes
With summer approaching we have many reasons to be thankful this year. As part of giving back to our community, we are asking our members to bring a can or two of tomato products (whole or diced tomatoes, paste, sauce, rotel, etc.) to our May meeting! Why is that?

Heights Interfaith Ministries (HIM) Food Pantry is in need of tomato products to give out with their weekly food parcels. For months since the Pandemic, HIM has been in serious need of some basic food items. Help us restock their shelves by bringing a can or two of tomatoes. If you forget, we will also be taking up a cash collection at the meeting to help restock the food pantry shelves.
It's a Girl!
Special congratulations to member, Lana Alkhatib, on the birth of her daughter, Sireen.

In Memoriam
We are saddened to announce the passing of our long standing and dearly loved member, Sue Johnson. Sue had been a member of the Houston Heights Woman's Club for more than a decade, and a faithful attendee at many events. The Heritage Group will be sending a donation in Sue's memory to her favorite charity.

For those wishing to send a remembrance, her husband Gene Johnson is at The Watermark Senior Living, 1245 W. 18th St. 77008.  Sue's daughter/son-in-law are Gara and Blake West, 2305 Rutland, Houston 77008.

April Recap
April Meeting
The Heritage Group welcomed and listened attentively to our guest speaker, native Houstonian, ABC13-Melanie Lawson, as she discussed how evolving technology has changed news reporting. Ms. Lawson graciously and patiently answered all our questions adding in lots of detail to her responses before regrettably dashing off back to work as news reporting never ends. We are very grateful for the generous sharing of her time and insight. A huge thank you to member Jan Donaldson and her daughter Katie Donaldson for facilitating Ms. Lawson's visit.

Appreciative thanks also goes out to our monthly hospitality volunteers led by Hospitality Coordinator Linda Navarro and Head Hostess Joyce Rozell with Josephine Cardona, Elisabeth Feix, Carolyn Jackson, Shirley Sparacino and Marie Verhine for their fetching Easter-themed decor and to all the cooks and bakers! And yes, even though many of us now get our news from our phones, we vowed to make an effort to watch our local ABC 13 news station on a TV screen!
Lunch and Brewery Tour
Heritage Group members enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at Saint Arnold Brewing Company spending quality time becoming better acquainted with many of our newer members, dining and sipping refreshing beverages in the spacious welcoming Beer Garden and even touring the brewery with a fabulous guide.
