What I Love About Being Part of a Woman's Club in 25 Words or Less!
Remember those contests of the 1950's? Product sponsors asked you to say what you liked about a product in 25 words or less. If you were the winner, the prize might be a shopping spree, a new appliance or even a mink coat!
Although we don't have a mink coat or even a faux fur coat to give away, we'd like to capture your words during our meeting on February 3rd. The purpose is to reflect and have a bit of fun. We would also like to capture some highlights to include in a brief video to share with prospective new members.
|
What do you need to do? Put on your thinking cap and write a response to "What I Love About Being Part of a Woman's Club ___________" in 25 words or less.
We'll ask each member to read out her statement dressed in her favorite Valentine’s red or pink outfit during the meeting on February 3rd. We can't wait to hear your responses!

February Event - February 10, 2021

A note of thank-you with warmest appreciation to Heritage Group volunteers, Barbara Breese, Betsy Boston, and Elizabeth Ruthven who recently made "Staying Connected" phone calls (yes the old-fashioned way!) extending New Year's greetings and sharing club activity updates with many of our members who are unable to attend our virtual meetings and monthly park walks.
It was lovely to hear familiar voices and check on our sisters as we continue to keep the spirit of our Club Collect relevant through striving "to take time for all things...and to know the great, common woman's heart of us all."

January Recap
January Meeting: Heritage Group members welcomed the first meeting of the New Year with mutual recollections of a quiet evening spent safely at home on this New Year’s Eve. Members gave book and movie reviews and thanks to our in-house birding expert, Elizabeth Ruthven, we can share that red-whiskered bulbuls are in the neighborhood.
|
We then turned to more serious matters while engaging in an involved Q&A session with Joni Cooper-Stanphill, Communities In Schools of Houston Student Support Manager at Heights High School after receiving an excellent update from her on how our CIS students are faring during the pandemic: her goals have shifted to the challenge of trying to meet students' basic needs; sadly a high school diploma is no longer the top priority at present as even the logistics of irregular school bus transportation due to Covid is affecting student attendance. On a more positive note we were excited to learn of the new virtual mentoring program pilot and look forward to exploring other partnering possibilities.
In closing, members attentively participated and laughed their way through an entertainingly designed Club History Trivia Quiz.
