January Lunch
It is the usual potluck. Water, a plate, and cutlery will be provided.

The theme is healthy eating so try to bring something healthy. However it is your decision on what you want to bring. If you bring a dessert, that's between you and your waistline!
January Speaker
Every day in Houston, there are nearly 90,000 children, or 1 out of 4 preschool aged children, who may not know where their next meal is coming from. Beth Harp, Executive Director of Kids' Meals, will provide an overview of the good work being done.

January Excursion
Volunteering is a blast! While in the Kid's Meals kitchen, volunteers play music, chat, laugh, dance, sing, and have a joyful time while making meals.  There are places to sit, and whatever your capabilities, there is a task you can do!

When: We will meet at 8:30 am at the clubhouse on Wednesday January 11. We will carpool to Kids' Meals. Alternatively, you may meet us there.

Where: 330 Garden Oaks Blvd. Houston, TX 77018

After we arrive, you will be assigned to roles either in the kitchen or in the packing rooms. Volunteers in the kitchen will work to make sandwiches and prepare snacks, and volunteers in the packing rooms will pack the meal items into bags to be delivered.  Some of our artistic members may decorate lunch bags.

Lunch is at Flying Fish, 1815 N. Durham.

Please RSVP now. Once we have the list of volunteers, Barbara Roberts will send further instructions for registration.
What to Wear
  • Masks are required.
  • Your HHWC T-Shirt of course! If you do not have yours yet, T-shirts will be available at the January meeting.
  • Closed toe shoes and comfortable jeans or pants. We will be packing lunches so plan accordingly.
  • Sweater or jacket. Some areas are exposed to the loading dock and some of us will need to be going in and out of the cooler.
  • Baseball cap or hair wrap. And yes, ladies, they have hairnets in case you forget!

December Recap
Holiday splendor adorned the clubhouse inside and out as Heritage Group members attired in seasonal finery joined in for this beloved traditional holiday meal using club silver and china.

Much appreciative thanks goes out to our monthly Hospitality Team led by Linda Navarro - Hospitality Coordinator and Magdalene Vulkovic - Lead Hostess, with Joanie Cockrell, Kathy Sandefer, Caren Schmidt and Dena Honeycutt.

Special recognition is due to our talented pianist Kathy Sandefer for responding to an impromptu request with a festive medley of holiday tunes greeting arriving guests.

Additional thanks with gratitude is expressed to our members for the sleigh-full of cookie packages donated for holiday parties at Heights House and Heights Tower. Lastly, we loved learning about Art Cars and much more from our author guest speaker, Cathey Graham Nickell.
Café Joséphine and
Art Car Museum Tour

A holiday brunch at Le Café Joséphine followed by an entertaining visit to one of Houston's most unique sites in our neighborhood - Art Car Museum with appreciative thanks to Barbara Roberts - Heritage Group Programs VP.
Communities in Schools Wish List Update
We can't thank our donors and volunteers enough for their generosity and time in making the 2022 CIS Communities In Schools of Houston Wish List gift bag project a success! The students were overjoyed once more, and truly grateful.

Thank-you to Kathy Wilson, Evening Group Community Outreach Chair, for her role in organizing the Wish List, Linda Navarro for preparing and donating the accompanying Goody Bags, Karen Adams for "saving the day" with coordinated support from Little Caesars Pizza on Crosstimbers and the numerous Heritage and Evening Group volunteers for festively decorating and organizing the Gift Bag delivery in record time! Added thanks also goes out to all the behind the scenes volunteers who made this precious delivery possible.
