November Meeting

With Thanksgiving approaching we have many reasons to be thankful this year. As part of giving back to our community, we are asking our members to bring a jar of peanut butter to the November meeting! Why is that?

Heights Interfaith Ministries (HIM) Food Pantry is in need of peanut butter to give out with their weekly food parcels. For months since the Pandemic, HIM has been in serious need of some basic food items. Help us restock their shelves by bringing a jar or two. If you forget, we will also be taking up a cash collection at the meeting to help restock the food pantry shelves.

October Recap
Heritage Group members attired in their best witches hats and fascinators descended ghoulishly from their brooms into the clubhouse for the October Meeting.

Our featured guest speaker Alli Jarrett, "Hospitality Alli" of Harold's on 19th Street regaled us with many personable anecdotes. On a more serious note: Alli confirmed that like many others, Heights businesses are not immune to the ongoing pandemic challenges of supply chain shortages and staffing issues. One hopes a respite awaits in the near future for all involved.

Thank-you to our entire October Hospitality Team led by Linda Navarro, Hospitality Coordinator with Karen Adams, Dena Honeycutt and Anne Sloan for the gorgeous table décor and stylish floral arrangements attractively displayed in elegant vintage vases loaned by Lovejoy's Antiques on Yale. Sweet thanks also goes out to the bakers who baked, decorated and lovingly packaged individual portions of goblin's treats for all to enjoy!
Heights Foodie Tour
Another fantastic Heights Foodie Tour for our Heritage Group members thanks to Barbara Roberts, 1st Vice President and the Programs Committee.

Personalized tours led by the owners of Tenfold Coffee and Houston Dairymaids offered us appetizing insight into their respective businesses which was followed by self-guided tours at the ever tantalizing El Bolillo Bakery and the newly opened Houston Farmers Market on Airline.

And if that was not enough, maintaining our reputation for trying out restaurants included a lunch stop at Pinkerton's Barbecue.
Community Outreach

Thank you to Amy Amos, Teresa Matlock, Karen Adams and Barbara Mercer who delivered books and goodie bags to 9 Heights area schools on October 21st.

Special thanks to Amy Amos for preparing the “Party in a Bag” goodies for the librarians that accompanied the book delivery.
