FROM YOUR PASTOR’S HEART … LOVING LIKE A MOTHER

This Sunday we celebrate MOTHER’S DAY! I am so thankful that as the LORD orchestrated, our verse-by-verse exposition of 1 Thessalonians this week includes these words, “ … we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother nurtures her own children(1 Thess. 2:7). This week we get to unpack how to love and nurture others sacrificially, like a mother. The Apostle Paul gives a beautiful description of how the LORD cares for us with both maternal and paternal characteristics, and we can practice the same means of loving others in our own lives!

We remember and celebrate and give thanks for all the mothers, grandmothers, spiritual mothers, and those who have shown motherly love in our lives. We honor you and the sacrificial love you have given.

Remember to come with extra time to get pictures with the moms in your life. Madison Simmons, our children’s minister, has prepared a photo area with a balloon arch in the Fellowship Hall for special Mother’s Day pictures.

Men of Heritage!

For over two years we have met each quarter to have breakfast and to fellowship with each other while spending time in God's word. These meetings have helped us to build a greater sense of community as a group of men. In our last meeting earlier this year, we discussed how we must be missional minded, taking advantage of opportunities to get out and do the work that Christ has called us to do. This quarter we plan to do just that.

Each of you are invited to help serve and participate in a men's outreach event that will take place at Lumina at the Manor, a comprehensive mental health treatment and substance abuse treatment center in Van Buren.

We will meet in their yard to cook and serve breakfast from a tailgating trailer. Most importantly, we will fellowship and share a time of devotion with the men who participate.

Date: Saturday, May 31

Time: 8 am meet at Lumina, wrap up around 10am.

Address: 3909 AR 282, Van Buren, Arkansas

What: Cook breakfast and fellowship

Organizer: Russ Aikman, 479-431-7210

We need a lot of men to come and help with the cooking, cleaning, serving, and fellowshipping. Please make plans to attend as we take the message of Christ to the community.

In order to know who all is coming, we ask that you please sign up in the Fellowship Hall, or by texting or calling Russ Aikman.

Women of War Conference

Saturday, May 31, 2025

9:30 am to 3:00 pm

Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Sponsored by the Walking with Christ Sunday School Class

Ladies, you are invited to the “Women of War” Conference in the New Room, Saturday, May 31, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. As women in Christ, we are called to “...Be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His Might by putting on the full armor of God", (Ephesians 6:10-20). How do we accomplish this in 2025 and have victory over evil? How do we intercede for our families, unsaved loved ones, our church family and have victory? Ladies, we are called to fight evil as we see the imminent return of Christ drawing near. Join us to draw nearer to the Lord, find your scriptural weapons of war and to be victorious over the evil one. The time is NOW! A registration table is set up on Sundays in the Fellowship Hall between services. Please join us in the fight against evil and to find victory in Jesus!

Why Give?

Did you know that giving is an act of worship? As followers of Jesus, we recognize that all generosity begins with God. He gave us the greatest gift of all: salvation through grace. Giving back is one of the ways we express our gratitude for what He’s done for us.

Thank you for your giving. Your generosity helps support the ministries, maintenance, and improvements at Heritage Church. This summer, we’re planning some much-needed updates to our parking lots, including resurfacing, restriping, and adding additional handicapped parking spaces. The estimated cost is about $121,000. If you’re considering any extra giving this summer, we’d be grateful if you’d consider supporting this project.

If you have any questions or would like more details, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you again for your faithful support.

Low Brass Concert

It was a great joy to host the UAFS low brass studio here at Heritage last week. Dr. Zacharella, who frequently plays with us here at Heritage, leads this group of students. I heard many comments about how great the sanctuary was to play in, and they were able to have plenty of room on the stage for the concert. What a blessing to be able to minster to the community in this way. Professor Shalon Lester also accompanied the soloists on the piano. For those of you who may have missed the concert, have no fear, I imagine that there will be more opportunities to hear concerts like this at Heritage in the future!

Be blessed and stay singing!

Awake My Soul Bible Study Companion

We are excited to make available a Bible study that goes along with our series, Awake My Soul. The study is Thru the Bible (1 & 2 Thessalonians) by J. Vernon McGee. We encourage you to journey in this study with someone or a small group. This is a great resource to help you, or your small group go deeper as we dive into 1 & 2 Thessalonians. Click the images below to download these resources. For those who are not able to download or print, let us know and we can make you a copy here at church. Let's go deeper together!
