As we approach the close of another remarkable year at Heritage Christian School, it’s a time to reflect on the incredible ways God has moved in and through our school. This year has been filled with blessings, achievements, and growth, and I’m deeply grateful for the collective effort that has made it all possible.

Hannah Vorwerk
PreKindergarten Teacher
Hannah graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 2015 and taught Preschool for over 10 years while also serving as Director of the Preschool and Daycare program. She received her B.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Northern Iowa with endorsements for K-3rd grade. Most recently, she taught 1st grade at Trinity Lutheran School in Cedar Rapids. She and her husband live in North Liberty, so she's excited to be moving to HCS and working in the community closer to home.
"I am grateful to be joining the amazing team of educators at Heritage and having an opportunity to teach young students about the love of God and the truths found in the Bible. I love what I do and look forward to meeting new students and families this year!"

Kaitlyn Swaim
3rd Grade Teacher
Kaitlyn is an Iowa native and graduate of the University of Iowa. She spent several years working in marketing and various Children's Ministry leadership positions while raising her family. Then she felt God's call to pursue her passion for teaching and recently graduated with her Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education! She loves spending time with her husband, Josh, and their 6 kids (ages 4-16). She's excited to be joining the Heritage family and is looking forward to teaching 3rd grade!
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6. "I believe it's so important for kids to learn about and experience God's love and His Word from a young age so that they can carry it with them the rest of their lives! I feel humbled and blessed to have the opportunity to share this with my students at Heritage!"

Celebrating, Honoring, & Remembering

This year, as we graduated our 29th 8th grade class at Heritage, we not only celebrated the incredible achievements and growth of our students, but we also took time to remember a very dear classmate who is no longer with us.
Though Alli Olsen left us far too soon after her 4th grade year in 2021, her light continues to shine in the hearts of her classmates and the entire school community. Her joy, her spirit, and her love for Jesus are forever part of who these students are.
The class created a Peace Pole in her memory which is placed outside at the Alli Olsen Memorial Pergola.
