Are We Helping or Hurting?
John Davis, President | Blog

Here’s a challenge for each of us seeking to lead children toward leading Christ-centered lives. Do the things we say and, more importantly, the things we do, actually lead them to the kind of life transformation we hope for, or are we doing more damage than good?

This blog from the Association of Christian Schools International challenged me. Shaun Brooker suggests that when we teach children things like Scripture memorization, Bible knowledge, prayer, worship, discipleship, etc., we either can do it in ways that lead them closer to God or drive them away from Him.

Heritage Updates
Reenrollment Opens January 27
Mark your calendars: Reenrollment for current families for the 2023-2024 school year opens on Friday, January 27th! We are eager to welcome your family back to HCS next year, and your child's seat will be held until March 1st.

To claim their seat (on or after 1/27):
1) Login to the Blackbaud Parent Portal and sign and submit the contract.
2) Pay the reenrollment fee ($150 per student) OR complete the Parental Choice Program Online Application*  (opens February 1).

Unclaimed seats will be made available for new families on March 1st, and we expect waiting lists at several grade levels. With that in mind, please complete your reenrollment process as soon as possible to claim your child's seat.

New this year: HCS enrollment contracts signed for 23-24 will be perpetual, and families will not be asked to sign another contract for the remainder of the years their student attends HCS. In future years, seats will be held for students when the reenrollment fee is paid (fee will appear on the January billing statement) and/or the Parental Choice Program Application is completed.

*Please note, the Parental Choice Program Online Application opens on February 1st, and the application must be completed each year for each student participating in the program.

Contract the Administrative Office with questions (262-432-0333), or if you need assistance logging into the Blackbaud Parent Portal.

Parent Workshop - Helping Kids with Self-Regulation
Heritage's Preschool and Elementary Teams are hosting a workshop for parents about helping kids with self-regulation. All parents and teachers are invited! Anyone with children or who works with students of any age will find this session beneficial.

Tuesday, January 24, 2023
Banner Church Sanctuary
6:30-7:30pm
Doors open at 6:15pm

Does your child have big, intense emotions that run hard and deep throughout the day? There's actually a term for that: emotional dysregulation, when those big, intense emotions cause your child’s behavior to explode, retreat, or even shut down. Through this workshop, you'll begin to see your child's reaction through the lens of dysregulation and how to go from reacting to the behavior seen to responding to the struggle being experienced.

Presenter: Katelyn Mabry is a special educator with a masters in Reading. She is an author and hosts a podcast for kids. She and her husband have 4 young children, including her son who is currently enrolled at Heritage Christian Preschool.

There is no fee for this workshop, but registration using this form is required.
