After the early morning rain cleared, nearly 140 golfers had a great time at the 33rd annual Tito Francona Memorial Golf Classic! The Heritage Valley Health System Foundation hosted the event on August 7th at Olde Stonewall Golf Club. Former Cleveland Indians’ and St. Louis Cardinals’ star John “Tito” Francona first held the Tito Francona Golf Outing in 1989 in memory of his late wife, Birdie, who was treated for cancer at the Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital. Their son, Terry Francona, General Manager of the Cleveland Guardians, continues to sponsor and support this memorial golf event, which now benefits Heritage Valley Beaver cancer and heart patients.
Since 1989, this event has raised $3.5 million, including nearly $90,000 this year, enabling us to purchase equipment and support the John “Tito” Francona Heart & Vascular Center in Beaver. Heritage Valley’s Heart & Vascular Center includes leading cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, cardiologists and electrophysiologists, as well as nurses and technicians who are highly trained to perform cardiac and vascular testing and procedures. To reach the John “Tito” Francona Heart & Vascular Center, please call 724-773-4502.
We were honored that Tito and Birdie selected us for cancer and heart treatments, and we are grateful for the continuing support of Terry Francona and his family. Once again, Heritage Valley remains Uniquely Connected. For Life.
