Heritage Valley COVID-19 Vaccination: Registration Remains Open for Phase 1A
Heritage Valley Health System continues to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to individuals who fall into the Phase 1A category as outlined by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. To date, more than 74,000 registrations have been received and 19,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered. The Health System continues to focus on the needs of our community members and will be actively scheduling those aged 69 and above, effective March 1.

Vaccination clinics are held at the Community College of Beaver County Dome in Monaca, PA, and the former Heritage Valley Robinson location (side entrance of the Staples building) in Robinson Township. Additional vaccination clinics are scheduled for March 9, 11, and 13 at the CCBC Dome and March 10 and 12 in Robinson Township. Individuals must be scheduled to obtain a vaccine at these locations.

Eligible individuals on the Heritage Valley COVID-19 vaccine registration list will be notified to schedule a date, time, and location to receive the vaccine as more doses become available.

Second Doses Begin
The widely-utilized COVID-19 vaccines developed by Pfizer and Moderna require two doses scheduled 21 or 28 days apart, respectively. Those who have received their first dose at a Heritage Valley vaccination clinic have a second dose appointment scheduled. Some of the second doses have already been administered, and others will be given in the next few weeks. It is very important to receive both doses of the vaccine to achieve the highest level of immunity.

Vaccine Cards Available
Upon completion of the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, each person will receive a card as proof of vaccination. The cards are available to be printed online at https://cms.hvhs.org/carelink/. Those who are not able to print out a card at home will receive a printed copy at the clinic before leaving their second dose appointment.

Phase 1A Registration Continues
Heritage Valley Health System is asking individuals who are currently in the Phase 1A category and interested in receiving a vaccine to do the following:

  • Register online at www.heritagevalley.org to be placed on our waiting list. The registration link is below.
  • As vaccine becomes available, Heritage Valley will contact those registered individuals, via email or text, to schedule appointments for their first and second doses.
  • It is important that, after scheduling, individuals keep their appointments.

Service Spotlight:
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) is an innovative, minimally invasive procedure for patients suffering from severe aortic stenosis. It is a less invasive alternative to open-heart surgery and is a viable option for patients who cannot have surgery or for whom surgery is too risky.

Heritage Valley’s interdisciplinary team of cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, radiologists, echo sonographers, cardiac catheterization lab, and operating room staff have performed nearly 200 TAVR procedures since 2018. Most recently, the TAVR Team has enhanced the TAVR procedure by utilizing alternative access sites that are safe alternatives to traditional access sites, in order to improve patient outcomes.

In 2019, TAVR received FDA approval for low-risk patients. As a result, many patients whose primary option for treatment was open-heart surgery can now be considered for TAVR. Heritage Valley Beaver is one of only a few community hospitals that performs this state-of-the-art procedure.
