Mammograms Save Lives!

The third Friday in October each year is National Mammography Day. On this day, and throughout the month, women are encouraged to schedule a mammography appointment. Mammograms are performed to screen healthy women for signs of breast cancer and to evaluate women who may have symptoms. Combining a yearly mammogram, monthly breast self-examination and a yearly clinical breast exam provides women age 40 and over with the best means of early detection of breast abnormalities. When problems are detected early, women have the most hope of controlling or curing a problem.

Self-Requesting Mammograms: All of our mammography locations listed below offer Self-Requesting Mammograms, which means that a patient may schedule herself for a screening mammogram without a written order from a physician.

Walk-in Mammograms: On Mondays in the Robinson Township Medical Neighborhood and Wednesdays in the Ellwood City Medical Neighborhood women may walk in and request a screening mammogram. No appointment needed! Simply bring your prescription from your physician.

In addition to the Women’s Health Centers in Center Township and Robinson Township (newly opened!), both screening and diagnostic mammography services are offered at the following convenient locations:

Schedule Your Screening Mammogram On-Line!

You can now schedule your screening mammogram on-line using Heritage Valley’s My Care Link! 

Simply download the Heritage Valley Health System app (iHVHS/aHVHS); create a “My Care Link” account; click on the Mammography Exam icon and follow the prompts to schedule an appointment at one of our eight screening locations. To schedule through heritagevalley.org, click on Patient & Visitor Resources to find “My Care Link.” Click here if you need help creating a “My Care Link” account. 

When scheduling, you will be asked a few health-related questions. If you answer “yes” to any, you will be directed to call 1-866-901 MAMO (6266) to schedule your appointment. Diagnostic mammograms may also be scheduled by calling this number.

Unique Boutique

is Back!

The Unique Boutique is back! In its 22nd year, this popular event continues to draw incredible artists, emerging small business vendors and our returning vendors. The event will be held from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Edgeworth Club, 511 East Drive in Sewickley. “We are delighted to bring the Unique Boutique back in person,” commented Mrs. Terri Tunick, Event Chair and member of the Board of Directors for the Heritage Valley Health System Foundation. Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to renovate the 5th floor Orthopedic Unit at Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital.

Shoppers will be delighted with the exceptional selection of boutique clothing, stylish jewelry, textiles and home decor. Personal service, one-of-a-kind items and custom orders are a hallmark of this annual event, which features 50 vendors from the tristate area. Treat yourself or stock up for everyone on your gift list! 

Admission for Unique Boutique is $20 per person or $40 per person for admission and lunch. A buffet lunch, prepared by the Edgewood Club’s Chef Rudek, will be served from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Reservations are preferred. A courtesy shuttle will be available to shoppers from the Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital garage located at Fitch Circle (720 Blackburn Road) to the Edgeworth Club. The shuttle will make rounds every 30 minutes beginning at 9:30 am and running through 4:00 pm.

Heritage Valley is offering drive-through flu vaccines, by appointment only, through mid-November for those patients 12 years and older at the locations and times listed below. High-dose flu vaccines are available for those ages 65 and older. If this is the first time that you are getting a flu vaccine, we recommend that you receive your vaccine in your Heritage Valley physician’s office.

COVID Corner... 

Pfizer Bivalent Vaccine Available

For those ages 12 and older, we are offering the Pfizer Bivalent boosters at our ConvenientCare Walk-In Clinics in Center Township on Tuesdays and in Robinson Township on Thursdays. Beginning on October 19th, boosters will also be available on Wednesdays at the ConvenientCare Walk-In Clinic in Center Township.

Boosters are available by appointment only. You are up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccines once you have completed a COVID-19 primary series and received the most recent booster dose recommended for you by the CDC.
