It’s been two weeks since Governor Newsom’s “stay at home” order went into effect – and we are all adjusting to a world that has been turned upside down. No one knows exactly how long this will last, but it seems like we have a while before we get back to many of our normal activities.
As we all adjust to this new reality, I can’t emphasize enough the gratitude I have for everyone who is doing their part by staying home, the employees of essential services that continue to show up to work to help us, and for our staff continuing to serve the community.
We also want to take a moment to hear from you. If you live in any of our south bay cities and have a moment, please fill out the

to let us know how frequently you’d like to hear from us, the COVID-19 challenges you and your family are facing, and your preferred methods of communication with us so we can do our best to be responsive and help you meet those challenges.
Even as we cope with these realities, this too shall pass. There are better times ahead. We know these times are tough, yet in the past few weeks we’ve seen our community come up with creative and innovative ways to keep supporting each other –
whether it’s a business turning into a corner market, residents helping out those in need, our kids sharing messages of hope and positivity, and those continuing to serve on the front lines of our response efforts –
we are so proud and inspired by each and every one of you.

Extensive COVID-19 Resources on the City Website
|
|
The County of Los Angeles issued a
Safer at Home Order
that applies to all of LA County effective beginning 11:59 PM on 3/19/20 through at least 4/19/20. Additionally, the California Governor has issued a
Stay at Home Order
statewide that has also gone into effect and will be in effect until further notice. An order was also issued by LA County on 3/27 that directed the closure of our beaches and associated trails county-wide.
We are closely monitoring updates and information provided by these sources and will continue to provide updates to the community. You can explore the information and resources we have on our website at

To help keep the community informed, the City of Hermosa Beach is providing daily updates featuring the latest news about COVID-19; related local updates; and how the City is working to meet the needs of the community and protect public health. Information regarding coronavirus is changing frequently, and the City will continue to provide the latest information about COVID-19 and links to resources.

Public Health Updates from the CDC
|
The City of Hermosa Beach is supporting trusted resources such as the Center for Disease Control and LA County Department of Public Health who are monitoring and leading response efforts by helping to share information and resources available to the public regarding Coronavirus, aka COVID-19. We are closely monitoring updates and information provided by these sources and will continue to provide updates to the community.

Status of City Services and Activities
|
The City of Hermosa Beach is continuing to provide critical and essential services to the Hermosa Beach community. Additional services and programs will maintain operations to the extent feasible. The City of Hermosa Beach has postponed or cancelled non-essential public events and senior and community programs sponsored by the City during the months of March and April. The status of City services and listing of events that have been cancelled or postponed is available on this webpage and will be updated as conditions change.

We understand the significant challenges Hermosa Beach businesses face as a result of disruptions and closures caused by the global outbreak of COVID-19. Recognizing the growing need to provide our local community with the rapidly evolving list of resources and directives, the City has compiled the following local, state, national and private resources that can help local businesses during this time and ensure our businesses are doing their part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. What to know what's happening in your neighborhood? With our new website we've launched an interactive map that highlights capital improvement, planning, and other City projects so you can find background materials, participate in upcoming meetings, and keep up with latest status on projects.

Parking Permits Reminders
|
With the City's response to COVID-19, and closure of City offices to the public, the City has delayed the requirement for a 2020 permit until May 31, 2020 and will continue to honor 2019 permits until then.

ou can renew an existing residential permit online or by mail and will need the renewal postcard from the City and a valid ID or current proof of residency, such as a utility bill, that is dated in the last 30 days. Residential permits cost $40.

It's Time for the 2020 Census Count
|
Every ten years the US conducts the Census count to allocate funding and resources nation-wide.
With some extra time on your hands, complete the census for your household today by going to
my2020census.gov
and using the 12 digit ID found on the official Census Bureau invitation to complete the census. Want to learn more? You can view Census response rates, learn more about the census and why it matters to our community on our website.

If you're a local business interested in going green or receiving recognition for your efforts, you can become a Hermosa Beach certified green business. The program is free to participate, and as a business you receive on-site assistance, and local and statewide recognition by participating.
