Superintendent's Weekly Message

We are excited to share our first HVS Staff Spotlight Video featuring Ramon Sanchez, a valued Maintenance and Operations crew member at Hermosa Vista. Ramon’s dedication to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and families is a vital part of what makes our schools thrive. We are incredibly proud to have him on our team, ensuring that our learning spaces remain top-notch. Please take a moment to watch the video and celebrate the work Ramon does to support the success of our school community.

As we approach the upcoming election, it’s important to be informed about Measure HV and how it impacts our schools, community, and, in particular, Hermosa Valley School. Measure HV is a local, general obligation bond focused on ensuring quality facilities and education in our District. To learn more about its goals and implications with NO increase in taxes, I encourage you to review our Understanding Measure HV and other detailed information, including the Measure HV FAQ on our HBCSD.ORG website. Your awareness and understanding of this measure are vital as we work together to ensure the continued success of our students and schools.

Warm regards,

Dr. Susan Wildes

Superintendent of Schools, Hermosa Beach City School District

DID YOU KNOW?

General Obligation Bond, Measure HV = NO TAX INCREASE

Measure HV (Hermosa Valley) a general obligation bond supporting Hermosa Beach City School District with no increase in taxes, will be on the ballot this November. Measure HV is needed to secure essential funding for Safety, Science & Classrooms, Solar, and Sports facility upgrades and modernization.

All funds remain in Hermosa Beach and will be overseen by an independent committee. Thanks to the citizens of Hermosa Beach whose previous approval of Measure S brought us modernized and upgraded View and Vista campuses. Our work, however, is not done as more infrastructure repair and improvement work is needed at Hermosa Valley. Measure HV, if approved, will bring classrooms, campuses, and facilities up to modern educational and safety standards.

If your child is potty trained and ready to thrive in a nurturing and engaging setting, we encourage you to submit an application. Tours are also available upon request; we’d love to show you all that our preschool program has to offer. You can also learn more by visiting our HB Preschool at View website.

Watch D.O.G.S. Kick-Off Pizza Party!

Calling all Dads, Grandpas, and Funcles - Watch D.O.G.S. is an innovative program that is already used in schools across America, and it helps students to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father figures. This is our third year having Watch D.O.G.S. at Hermosa Schools, and it has been a tremendous success! Our goal is to have you spend at least one day to be a positive male role model at Hermosa View and/or Vista.

To participate:

  • RSVP so we will have an accurate headcount for pizza and drinks.
  • Mark your calendars, and we’ll see you Wednesday, October 30, from 6:00-7:00 PM, in the Vista MPR.

Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk - Register Today!

This year marks the 16th annual Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk on Sunday, October 20th. This event raises money for our schools and special needs children. Last year, this event brought in over $245K for our Hermosa Schools.

Why do we love this event? It is the only fundraiser that gives back almost 4x your donation in return! With every $30 registration, our schools receive up to $120 back. So register the whole family (and pets too!) on your teacher’s team found at hbef.org. To sweeten the deal, HBEF will have weekly raffles, teacher prizes, and class competitions, so register today!

Please contact skechers@hbef.org if you have additional questions.
