The East Hernando Library is inviting the public to make a diorama using Peeps! Stop by the East Hernando Branch Library to pick up a kit, or use your own supplies. Drop your project off at the library by Saturday, March 23. Come back to vote for Peep-le's Choice from the 26th-30th! The only rules are to use at least one Peep and the size can be shoe box or larger. Book-related theme is preferred but it is open to your choice.

"Coffee with the County" is a 10-episode spring season podcast that covers various topics from tourism all the way to ukulele lessons at the Libraries. Each episode features an interview with a County staff member from a different department sipping on a cup of joe, sharing coffee stats, and educating the public on Hernando County services.

The Fine Arts Council held the 39th annual Art in the Park on March 9th and 10th at Tom Varn Park.
Patrons were able to see 100 unique art exhibitors and buy one-of-a-kind artwork from amazing fine artists and crafters. There were art demonstrations, live music, stage entertainment and interactive art installations throughout the park. The event was child-friendly with a lakeside picnic area, playground and full Children's Experience Area with free art activities for the kids.
The Student Art Show featured artwork from students of Hernando County.
Hernando County's Public Information team had a table top at the event and connected citizens with County services.

You can learn about potential hazards in your area, receive guidance on how to prepare for emergencies and stay up to date on any ongoing incidents. | |
On Friday, March 15th, County Administrator, Jeff Rogers, held a State of the County presentation at The Nicholson Center at The Wesleyan Village in Brooksville. Several County Departments had a table top for the citizens to learn more about their department. There was also time allowed for a question and answer session. Refreshments were served as well. | |

Pine Island Park Update:
Willy’s is coming along nicely, with the concrete area of the deck complete and the wooden section starting to be framed. You can also see the new palm trees that were installed around Willy’s! The observation deck ramp is also coming together with the structural elements of the ramp in place. Up next will be decking and railings which will complete the observation deck repairs.

During the March 12th, 2024, BOCC meeting, several members (including two students) were in attendance to accept the Resolution Proclaiming Support of Florida Agriculture and Wildlife Expo (FAWE).
The mission of this organization is to educate all ages about the food they eat and the healthy food choices available to them by visiting farms and meeting farmers.
The goal of the FAWE is to showcase Hernando County and Florida state's finest agriculture, wildlife, arts, talent and industry. They want to provide a safe and clean environment that is assessable to all while creating unique experiences for all ages.

At the March 12th, 2024, BOCC meeting, Wayne and Tina Cordova accepted the Resolution Proclaiming March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
The couple own and operate Posability, Inc.
They credit their daughter, Emmalee, as the CIO (Chief Inspiration Officer).
This organization celebrates the diversity and abilities of all individuals, regardless of developmental disabilities. They opened Emmalee's Clubhouse that is a fun and unique environment that encourages inclusion, creativity and play!

On Thursday, March 14th, 2024, the BOCC, School Board and Brooksville City Council held an Interlocal Governmental Meeting at Pasco-Hernando State College, North Campus.
Some topics included mutual use of facilities, crossing guards and speed cameras within Hernando County School Zones, Development of Brooksville and Hernando County. There was also an update regarding Hernando County School additions, joint legislative request for Wimbleton Ave between the School Board and Board of County Commissioners as well as a presentation by the School Board
regarding planning and concurrency implementation.

Recently, an appreciation letter was sent to three Hernando County Department of Public Works employees to recognize their efforts in patching and repairing a pothole at the curve on Tundra Road near The Brookridge Community. A citizen contacted the County because she was "extremely impressed with their service".
Thank you William, James and Kevin for all your hard work assisting the residents of Hernando County! You made a difference and it didn't go unnoticed.

The CAC is an advisory board which assists the MPO in conducting effective public information and participation programs, and advising the MPO of public opinion on policy issues to be considered by the MPO.

Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (TDLCB) | |
The TDLCB assists the Community Transportation Coordinator with transportation disadvantaged services to those persons who because of physical or mental disability, income status, or age are unable to transport themselves or to purchase transportation and are, therefore, dependent upon others to obtain access to health care, employment, education, shopping, social activities, or other life-sustaining activities, or children who are handicapped or high-risk or at-risk.
