Procurement & Office of Management and Budget

The Hernando County BOCC proclaimed March 20th-24th as Government Finance Professionals Week. Pictured is the Procurement and Office of Budget and Management Staff being recognized at the March 14th BOCC meeting for all their hard work, knowledge, and their integrity to be completely transparent to ensure trust with the public.

Fleet

The Fleet Department found an inventive way to use a 5yd Dump Truck, that was being used to tow trailers, by converting it to a Grapple Truck with a Dump Trailer Tow Behind that will be able to clean up debris. This conversion allows our Hernando County Parks & Recreation department to have the ability to pick up debris like seaweed on the beach or fallen trees. After a storm, this Grapple Truck will serve as a second clean up unit to get roads cleared sooner. In a time when it is hard to get a Cab & Chassis, our Fleet Department has come up with a creative way to utilize existing equipment.

County Ambassadors

Each year, select staff apply and are selected to go through the internal Ambassador program. Participants from all different backgrounds and departments come together every month for a full year to learn about all the inner and outer working components that make up local Government. The class graduated the program on March 15th and are now eager and ready to advocate for our community.

Congratulations Ambassadors!

Animal Services

In March, Dr. Karen Taylor and staff of Animal Medical Center of Brooksville donated their time and supplies to sterilize 10 cats as part of our Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return Program. Dr. Taylor used this time to provide oversight and train a Veterinary Medical Student! This was a win-win all the way around. Animal Services would like to invite other clinics to participate in “Team TNVR.”

If you are interested please contact Animal Services at 352-796-5062 and ask for James Terry.
