All donations collected will address the immediate and long-term needs of Hernando County residents and services who have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, as well as Partner Agencies who continue to serve the basic needs of those most vulnerable.

- Dedicated VITA volunteer Kathy donated 40 homemade masks, which were distributed to Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services, Early Learning Coalition, People Helping People, and The Arc Nature Coast. These Partners continue to work directly with Hernando residents through food distribution, shelter, and direct care.Thank you Kathy! (pictured)

COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVE IN DISASTER
The COAD is continuing to meet weekly on Mondays at 9:30AM via Zoom, addressing the growing unmet needs for residents in Hernando County.
- St. Vincent de Paul is reopening their Food Pantry on Monday, April 27th, as a drive-thru service. Hours of operation can be found here.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) continues to be a need amongst health care workers and other essential employees. If you have masks or other PPE you'd like to donate, contact Executive Director Angie.

United Way is continuously collaborating with a myriad of local health and human services organizations, as well at the
Hernando COAD and our Partner Agencies
, to address the growing unmet needs in the community as the threat of COVID-19 remains.
- Older adults who are worried about food shopping are being connected to food pantries that are still in operation and offering delivery services.
- Essential workers who do not have the option of working from home are still struggling to find childcare as schools remain closed until the end of the year.
- Early Learning Coalition of Pasco/Hernando is offering daycare assistance to qualified first responders and health care workers. Fore more information, click this link.

AWARENESS
April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month. Along with Mid Florida Community Services' Children's Advocacy Center, UW
planted a pinwheel garden
in front of the office. Businesses across Hernando County joined in to raise awareness and support survivors and victims of childhood abuse.

Community Organizations Active in Disaster
|
Hernando County Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) is a group of organizations that bring together community, government, faith-based organizations, businesses, and volunteers committed to enhancing the community's ability to mitigate against, prepare for, and recover from disasters. This will be achieved through coordination and collaboration of member organizations.
As of 3/23, a Zoom Partners meeting will take place every Monday at 9:30AM.
