It's Not About The Religion,

It's About The Relationship!

See you this Sunday!

THE MID-WEEK BUZZ

Happy Thursday, Church!

I hope, at this point, that you and your family are beginning to dry out from Tropical Storm Rachel. We had a “lotawata.”  I was surprised and delighted to see so many of you in worship on Sunday.  It was a good day in worship and it was topped off with three amazing little girls dancing and sharing their joy with us.  If you were not with us, we had three little girls that simply began dancing together in the aisle and down by the altar. It was joy personified!  They then all used their little hands to create a heart shape and shared it with us all.  We really could have offered the benediction and gone to brunch after this.  God showed up in a very unexpected way.  Those kids and anyone else are always welcome to dance!  I could feel God smiling on us. By the way, for two Sundays in a row we have had at least four children.  Praise God.

I want to thank you for your faithfulness and attention during our sermon series on the basics of the Christian life. I pray that your Life Basics list is firming up. Here is a little rundown of the life basics we have explored the past several weeks:

Week One: God is God and We Are Not

Week Two:  We Are Set Apart for Purpose…on purpose

Week three:  We are Empowered with a Fierce Power of One

Week Four:  Put on the “armor” of God—Dress for success

Week Five:  Jesus is Enough!

What a joy it has been to Get back to the basics of the Christian Life.  I believe that these life basics will be a great tool as we head into the fall and holiday season. This coming weekend we are going to spend some time with the Christian Life Basic of HOPE.  “I hope” you and your family will be in worship this weekend. I just checked the Weather Channel, and it promises to be a beautiful sun-shiny day with a high of 86*.  So … Come to church THEN go enjoy brunch and the beach.  It’s a great combo. I love being your pastor!

Holding you close and lifting you high!

Pastor Greg

Music Ministry

Multipart Chords

A single musical note can be striking, but a true multi-part chord requires distinct tones sounding simultaneously to create a single, resonant harmony. This mirrors the profound mystery of the Trinity. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three distinct persons who share one eternal, divine essence without losing their individuality.

Even more wondrously, the music does not stop with the Godhead. Through grace, we are invited to join the song, becoming living notes woven directly into the chords of the divine life. When diverse souls blend with the Creator, our unique experiences and voices merge into a breathtaking symphony of communion with God.

How are you experiencing being woven into the divine harmony today?

Pastor Brandon

Coyote Bush | Samaall Kwsiyaay

The flowers of the coyote bush vary between the male and female varieties of the plant. Pictured on the left is the male plant, and pictured on the right are three different stages of bloom of the female plant; the bottom right photo shows the plant shedding it's seeds, which have hairs so fine that they easily catch the air and fly away.

Similar to last month's featured native plant, San Diego wirelettuce, coyote bush is in the Asteraceae family and shares a common ancestor with daisies, sunflowers, and other flowering plants in this huge family.

It’s Chili Cook-off time!!

Sat, Oct 24: 4:30

Please feel free to bring a delish chili in a crockpot or a topping or two! If you could also bring a ladle that would be great. It will be fun to have meat, veggie, mild, spicy, beans or no beans! There are no rules for the CCP Chili Cook Off other than to eat and have some fun!

Please bring your friends, family, neighbors and anyone who might like to learn more about our wonderful church. We’ll have prizes for the top 3 chilis and it will definitely be a fun evening.

Any questions please see Mary Jo Longo or Lynn Amabile.

Border Church

On Sunday November 8th at 12pm, we will carpool from our church to Border Church, which meets outdoors at 1:30pm until about 2:30pm. “Every Sunday, friends from San Diego, Tijuana, and around the world gather for our weekly celebration of binational communion at Friendship Park, the historic meeting place on the US-Mexico border. Somehow, the border wall mysteriously becomes a table for communion, where all are welcome.”

On Sundays, following worship in the office.

Books and More

On Tuesday, October 13, Books and More started reading The President Is Missing, written by Bill Clinton and James Patterson. This is the thriller of the decade, confronting the darkest threats that face the world today, with the highest stakes conceivable. Set in real time, over the course of three days, The President Is Missing is one of the most dramatic thrillers in decades. And it could all really happen. The President Is Missing is Bill Clinton and James Patterson's totally authentic and spellbinding thriller.

Please join this wonderful group of ladies every Tuesday in the Fireside Room at 10 a.m.
