It is cold outside. Time to make a warm quilt!

We have added classes back to our calendar, but responses have been hit or miss. Many customers have asked about taking the free guide classes we offer for any new machine purchase. Some fill up quickly, but others have had minimal participation.

We are wondering if we should offer more days or times, or if we simply need to advertise them further in advance. Do you have an opinion? Please take our survey and answer a few questions about what you would like to see in our classes! You also have space for suggestions if you have them. You don't even have to leave your name if you prefer. Either way, we'd love to hear from you.

Thinking about thread

Have you ever wanted to embroider something for your favorite Auburn Tiger... or maybe you were making something in Crimson and White for your Bama neighbor.. and you thought, "Am I using the right color?"

I have always used 1304 Red Pepper for Auburn Orange, for example. But is that correct? To find out, you can visit TeamColorCodes.com and find the color values for your team in a variety of formats. For example, the RGB values for Auburn Orange are 232, 119, 34. What does that mean? It means there is a lot of Red, some Green, and a little bit of Blue in there. Mixed together, it makes the right shade of Orange.

How do you find the right Isacord thread color? Easy - you use BERNINA v9 Software! First, create a color on the color bar. Choose a color mix, and add in the RGB values. Save the color to return to the Design Properties screen.

Select the Isacord thread chart, and then click "Match". To my surprise, it selected 1200 Sunset Orange! Of course, you can choose any color you want from our large selection of Isacord embroidery thread. If you want to save even more, check out our embroidery thread bundle which includes over $260 of thread spools (30), stabilizer, and bobbin thread, plus a nice box to hold your thread.

Bernina Wifi Devices are in

When the BERNINA v9 software came out last Fall, it had a note in the box that said that the Wifi devices were being delayed because of the worldwide chip shortage. Now we have them in stock, so you can see them in action. But - what do they do?

Think of the BERNINA Wifi Device as a wifi-enabled USB stick for your embroidery machine. You attach it to your Wifi network, just as you would a smart light bulb or a wifi thermostat. Then you can use your v9 software to create or prepare designs while you are sitting on the couch watching TV, and send them straight to your sewing room! Then all you have to do is go in there and start sewing. No more searching for USB sticks!

If only we could say, "Alexa, embroider this t-shirt before my kid's birthday party tomorrow."

New designs from OESD

Many of you have wanted to try some of the Freestanding Lace Christmas Village houses on our shelf, or some of the ornaments that were on our shoppe trees... but the most common reason for not trying them is this: "They would take so much time!"

Here is the perfect new project for you.. these are quick and easy to make. These heart-shaped gift boxes are created with water soluble stabilizer in 3 easy steps. You stitch a placement line first, then you put your fabric over it. (The secret is to put some on the top AND on the bottom of your hoop!). Stitch the outline, then cut off the excess fabric using OESD Applique Scissors. Then, let the machine stitch a nice satin stitch around the edges.

When you cut off the excess stabilizer and run the fabric piece under warm water, the stabilizer melts away. Let it dry overnight and then you are left with some nice firm puzzle pieces. Assemble the box, and put it out on your coffee table to wow and amaze your friends! (If you want to go over the top, let them open it to find candy inside.)

We would love to see your finished projects! Stop by to show us what you have finished, and then pick up something new to try. Do you want to come to a class? Check our calendar for our upcoming classes, and take our survey to let us know what you want to do, and when the best day/time would be to do it!

Happy Sewing,

Robin
