Wednesday Night at the Well

Wednesday Nights are in Full Swing!

every Wednesday // 6pm

Next Wednesday the Chosen People Ministry will be joining us to give a presentation on the Jewish Festivals. It will be different than in years past, when they have given a passover meal presentation. We invite you to join us for that next Wednesday, after dinner in the Fellowship Hall!

Lakewood’s longest running Bible study, Feasting In the Word, has resumed meeting each Wednesday afternoon 4-5:30 pm in the Mendoza Classroom. (Option to participate via Zoom also available). FITW is an in-depth study of the Bible book by book, chapter by chapter. We have begun our study of Paul’s letters in the order in which he wrote them. Currently we are studying 1 Corinthians and would love for you to join us. You do not need any prior Bible knowledge--just a love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and a desire to better understand His Word and how to apply it in your life. If God is calling you to study His Word through this Bible Study, call or text Ree Unterspan at (904)524-6071 or simply join us next Wednesday (11/1/23) at 4PM in Mendoza Classroom!

In order to refine the amount of food that is prepared for Wednesday night, we ask that you sign up for the dates that you plan on joining us for dinner. The cost will be $10/person or $30/family. The link below will allow you to sign up for the month of October, so please, please, please sign up using the link below! The menu includes:

11/15: Aaron Sprague is cooking Beef Stew and bread!

11/22: NO WED NIGHT-Thanksgiving

11/29: Chick-fil-A Sandwich meal

Operation Christmas Child

collecting now through Nov 12

THIS Sunday will be the last Sunday to bring your shoeboxes back, so be sure to bring them filled with lots of goodies on Sunday! There's also an option to build a shoebox online, just click the button below! If you'd rather write a check or give cash so that Jenna can shop for you, please let her know and be sure to put Op Christmas Child in the memo line for checks. The cost for that is $25/box or $31/box to pay for the box and the materials each child receives with the box.

Our goal is 210 boxes and every box counts in this mission to spreading good news and great joy to the ends of the earth! We are super, SUPER close to reaching our goal, so be sure to pack those boxes!

Church Charge Conference

November 19 // following the service // Sanctuary

We will be having a Church Charge Conference this Sunday, November 19, immediately following the service in the sanctuary. We will be voting on membership updates through deaths and transfers, pastor compensation, and OCB nominations. This is a Young at Heart Sunday, so Young at Heart will be immediately following the conference.

New Street Signs for Lakewood

The New Beginning Team is working to put a fresh face on Lakewood Church, including updating the street signs along San Jose Blvd.

Plans have been drawn to reface the sign in front of the CAC and construct a new sign in front of the sanctuary. Unfortunately, the old sanctuary sign is literally crumbling and cannot be refurbished. Both these signs would be internally lit and provide for changing messages.

The total cost of the project is $55,000. We have secured pledges of $43,000 and need to raise $12,000 more to fully fund the project.

If you are able, please consider supporting this project with a special gift, above your normal tithe. If you feel lead to do so, please make your check to Lakewood Church with STREET SIGNS in the memo.

We are very excited about the impact new signs could have on our section of San Jose Blvd. Thank you for your support and prayers.

The Johnstons are Going Back to Angola!

As you may have heard, David and Michele Johnston are planning to visit Angola in February 2024!

This leaves Lakewood with different opportunities to support them. The first and most important is to pray. Be in prayer about the support they will receive to go, the lives they will impact, and safe travels in getting there and back.

Second, they are continuing to take monetary donations to help purchase electrical supplies, furnishings for teachers from Brazil coming to live in Quessua, food/product for making Nutri-Nut and any extra expenses David and Michele may have.

Any monetary donations can be given to the church with "David/Michele Angola" in the memo line. Any and all support is greatly appreciated!

Please Support the Jacksons

Kurt and Sally Jackson moved to Guatemala in 1987 with five young children. God told them to “go”. They packed their children and belongings into a large vehicle and began driving west and then south until God told them to “stop”. They stopped in Antigua, Guatemala. They have been there ever since ministering to the people in Antigua and the small village of Peje Armado.

While sharing the love and salvation of Jesus Christ, they have built a foundation of Christianity among many people in Guatemala. In addition, they dug a well and built a water tower in Peje Amado to provide much needed reliable fresh water for the people of that small village. The well and water tower projects were built with the financial assistance of Lakewood members and other Christian friends of the Jacksons.

Two of the Jackson’s five children still reside in Guatemala, continuing to minister to the community with their parents. It is the Jackson’s strong desire to remain in their adopted country of Guatemala and serve God’s people as long as they can.

Can you help them continue this mission? Kurt and Sally need on-going financial support to continue God’s work in Guatemala. Please consider a monthly donation. Any amount will be appreciated.

Donations can be made through your Sunday School Class or directly to the Jacksons. Donations given directly to the Jacksons should be sent to the following address.
