A Message from Staff Parish--

During this holiday season, we would like to say a special thank you to our staff. We truly appreciate all that they do, and we'd like to bless them with a special gift.

If you would like to donate, you are welcome to put a check in the offering plate on Sunday. On the memo line, please write "Love Gift/Staff." If you give online, please put the same message on the optional memo line.

Thank you, Lakewood, and thank you to our staff for all you do and for leading us in our vision of being a growing community of Jesus followers who together exponentially impact the world with love of God.

Online Giving
The ministries at Lakewood could not be sustained without the generosity of our congregation. We believe that the giving of tithes and offerings is an act of worship. Through your faithful giving, we are able to better serve Christ in the world and across the street. Our church and community are blessed by your giving!

Important Information for This Sunday
The Ameris Bank Marathon will be this Sunday beginning at 7:00 AM. The runners will be starting from the Bolles School, heading south toward Mandarin, and will loop around the St. Johns River back to Bolles. This event may cause traffic delays on San Jose.

Please plan to leave early for worship or alter your route if the marathon will intersect with your commute. It may be easier to avoid San Juan and approach from University Boulevard.
2021 Christmas Cantata
The annual Christmas Cantata is coming up on Sunday, December 12th. Featuring special musical arrangements from the Handbells, Hosanna, Chancel Choir, Children's Choir, Aglow! Youth Choir, and more. These groups will lead us through the events leading up to the birth of Christ through story and song.

Come join us for the Cantata in the Sanctuary at 11:00 AM!
March to the Manger
March to the Manger will be on Sunday, December 19th during worship. This is an opportunity to bring a final, year-end gift to the Church to support our various missional ministries or any of the other funds that make up Lakewood's budget.

We believe that the giving of tithes and offerings is an act of worship. Through your faithful giving, we are able to better serve Christ in the world and across the street. Our church and community are blessed by your giving!
Young at Heart Resumes Programming
On December 19, Young at Heart will resume their monthly third Sunday lunch and program! Meet us in the CAC dining room following 11:00 AM Worship Service. We will share a yummy lunch prepared by Chef Ron - still only $7 - and a very special musical program will be provided by Nancy Grant, Karen Phillps and special guest, Keyor Cunningham on flute.

RSVP is not required but would be helpful
RuthBailey72@att.net or 904-268-2936.
The Youth raised $985 in the Flagging fundraiser earlier this year. To everyone who donated and participated in the fun, we are so thankful for you!
The Youth will be celebrating the holiday spirit with a Christmas party on December 19th from 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM. Please join us for an interactive movie night during our regular program time. Wear your pajamas and bring a $10 - $15 white elephant gift for the gift exchange.

Please RSVP so we can plan appropriately and help us out by signing up to bring something!
Lakewood's Youth Group meets on Sunday nights from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM.

Join us for dinner, games, worship, small groups, and more! We are currently going through a video curriculum called Alpha. The series offers compelling stories, images, questions, and discussion topics spread throughout each episode to better engage youth, helping them think about how these issues relate to their lives as they discuss with their friends and leaders.
21 STRONG

Join us on Thursdays at 6:30 for 21 STRONG. Ages 18-98 are welcome to attend. Bring water and a mat or towel and meet in the Fellowship Hall. We'll start with word and prayer, move into stretching and warm-up, then review and perform your individual workout with the group while inspired by song. The weekly 21 STRONG sessions are geared toward building your physical strength in order to better serve others. All levels of experience and fitness are welcome.

Helping Our Community's Homeless COVID-19 Victims
Where do you go for help if you and your family are homeless? Family Promise of Jacksonville and its partners, like Lakewood UMC, work with other social agencies in Jacksonville to provide shelter and hope for the homeless. But what happens when a homeless person tests positive for COVID-19? Where can he or she rest safely in isolation while recovering from COVID?

In Jacksonville, a network of isolation hotels was created during the pandemic to provide safe housing and support to homeless COVID sufferers. With the current escalation of COVID cases in our area, the need for isolation care is greater every day. All of our city’s homeless shelters and social agencies are working together to provide for this need.

Mark Landschoot of Family Promise of Jacksonville has reached out to our Lakewood family and to the other 16 churches who support this important ministry with a request for supplies needed to serve those housed in isolation hotels in our city.

Supplies needed at this time include:

-Underwear in all sizes, for males and females
-Bottled Water
-Individual bags of chips
-Brown paper lunch bags
-Medical gloves (Sizes small, medium and large)
-N95 face masks
-Paper Towels

You may bring your donated supplies to the church office and they will be delivered to the Family Promise office or you can order supplies on-line and have them delivered directly to Family Promise of Jacksonville, 431 University Blvd. N., Jacksonville, FL 32211. You may also make a directed donation to Family Promise of Jacksonville. Be sure to indicate that your donation is intended for isolation hotel supplies.

If you have any questions about the isolation hotels, requested supplies, or Family Promise, please contact Mark Landschoot at Family Promise (904-859-1326).
