1. ‎How did it feel when you found out you won?



Did not believe it until I was told who nominated me😊

2. What’s a small but meaningful moment that kept you motivated along the way? 

Some very important people in my journey along the way made sure I knew I was doing the right thing

3. What’s one thing you’d want others to know about the spirit of this award or what it represents?

That there is a lot of people in this field that see what we do and that we all need to keep doing it. People are still dying from this disease.

4. What were you for Halloween this year?

My self very busy on Friday from the Oasis and then to New Possibilities for trunk or treat.

5. What is your favorite recovery related quote? 

The Opposite of Addiction is connection. 😊-DH

Institution/Organization 2025 Champion of Service Award – Oasis Community Recovery Club. 

1. ‎How did it feel when you found out you won?

First I have to say I fangirled a little bit because I am a huge fan of Bill Stauffer and his work at Pro-A. Second, I felt humbled, validated and overwhelmed, and grateful.

2. What was the inspiration/what sparked the passion to start Oasis?

Oasis is a product of being an unhealthy family member/enabler and watching my community be destroyed by addiction. I am a full-time hairstylist and very open about my family's struggles with addiction. My clients share about their loved ones. We would celebrate the wins of them seeking treatment, but then the disappointments that they didn't stay well. I recognized the gap in the equation. People needed a new option for what to do with themselves socially in order to stay substance-free. From that, Oasis was born.

3. What’s one thing you’d want others to know about the spirit of this award or what it represents?

This award represents the spirit of my community of Shamokin. We were a defeated, run-down coal town. But we will rise from the ashes and recover. Being recognized across the state is another win for all those who support Oasis and our community!

4. What were you for Halloween this year?

A Scarecrow

5. What is your favorite recovery related quote? 

I know Lorri and I will probably have the same one (she did) so I will give you two. My first is, "The opposite of Addiction is Connection" and "Together we recover"
