News & Updates from your Parkside Family!

Hey Parkside Family!

Jesus said, “Look,” when you see these things happen, “you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near” (Luke 21:29, 30). We don’t have to “look around” to know that it is summer…just step outside. The Bible has much to say about how one should “spend” his summers. The ant will “provide her supplies in the summer” (Proverbs 6:8). And Solomon added, “He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame” (Proverbs 10:5). Micah speaks of those who “gather summer fruits” (Micah 7:1). So while summer is a time we take vacations, have family reunions, spend time at the lake…it is not a time to grow lazy in our work for the Lord. We must not “sleep away the harvest,” lest it happens to us what is described in Jeremiah 8:20 – “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” The word “saved,” here, meaning crops that should have been gathered in the summer, but were not, and they were left to rot in the fields. Heavy stuff, I know! We still have much of the summer left. Let’s make the most of it for the Lord and for Parkside!

Pastor's Fireside Chat
Thanks for the great turnout we had Sunday for the Pastor’s Fireside Chat about the SBC. One of the things we talked about was VISION 2025 where all our SBC churches are being asked to cooperate in the following ways that we might be increasingly effective in accomplishing the great commission nationally and globally…

Sending 500 more international missionaries into the world through the IMB by 2025
Adding 500 new churches by 2025
Emphasize that God calls people into full-time Christian leadership, call them out and train them up for Great Commission service.
Recommit ourselves to sharing the gospel effectively with those 18 and under
Increase our giving to the cooperative program so that we can do more Great Commission work together as Baptists than ever before
Prayerfully endeavor before God to eliminate all instances of sex abuse and racial discrimination in our churches.
We need to cooperate with our SBC brothers and sisters and be a part of praying and doing to make these great things happen. If you would like to be a part of praying for these things through text reminders, text the word VISION to 90885.

Summer Music Night
Sunday, July 25th - 6:00 PM
We are excited to present our second Summer Music Night to gather out in the park area of our property and have a relaxing night of family-friendly music. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase food from two local food trucks and let the kids play on the playground. You could bring a game to play with others, or a football or frisbee to toss, or you could just sit back and enjoy the music from local musicians. This night will have three groups providing music throughout the evening, beginning at 6 PM and ending around 7:30 PM. This will be a great opportunity to invite someone from your neighborhood or workplace, so they could connect with the Parkside family. Don’t miss our Summer Music Night on July 25th.
