Alcohol Awareness Month is observed every April to raise awareness about the risks of alcohol misuse and to promote prevention, education, and recovery. Established in 1987 by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD)
April was chosen to raise awareness ahead of prom, graduation, and warm‑weather events when alcohol use often increases. The month focuses on educating the public, supporting individuals in recovery, and helping communities prevent alcohol‑related harm.
