What were we up to last month?

October 2025

FRESHEALTH Goes Apple Picking for Great Apple Crunch

We love October for many reasons, one of them certainly being The Great Apple Crunch Celebration, which gives our associates an excuse to go apple picking! We invited our FRESHEALTH production floor employees and their children to an afternoon frolicking through the picturesque orchards of Lynd Fruit Farm in Pataskala, Ohio to celebrate the power of local food purchasing and healthy eating. Kids and adults alike bit into many fresh apples and took even more home with them.

Celebrating our Partnership with Twin Oaks Dairy Farm

In an effort to eliminate food waste at our FRESHEALTH fresh-cut processing facility, we collect our inedible food scraps (think pineapple crowns and melon rinds) to a local dairy farm in South Solon, Ohio. In 2024 alone, we diverted over 375 tons (826,733 pounds!) of food from landfills and put it to use! Now, those scraps are helping nourish cows with the high-fiber, high-energy diet they need to stay healthy and productive.

Sparking Produce Curiosity at Annual Ohio and Illinois SNA Conferences

Chuck, our Inside Sales Manager, and Aly, our Marketing Coordinator, spread the fresh-produce fever at Ohio's Annual School Nutrition Conference. Their booth was filled with vibrant fruits and veggies that caught the eye of attendees eager to sample something fresh and healthy. And of course, the candy cane beets once again stole the show and were great conversation starters!

Dan and Laxmi also recently attended the Illinois School Nutrition Association’s Annual Conference in Tinley Park, where they had the opportunity to connect with dedicated school nutrition professionals working to make a difference in children’s health and well-being.

Our mission is to make fresh fruits and vegetables more accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for students. We showcased our kid-friendly, ready-to-eat produce now offered in biodegradable and compostable packaging. These single-serve packs are designed to support programs like the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), helping schools inspire healthy habits that last a lifetime.

DNO Associates Hit the Green

Last week, some of our office crew traded their desks for the driving range! It was a day full of sunshine, impressive swings, not-so-impressive swings, and lots of laughs.

We love seeing our team connect, recharge, and have a little fun together on and off the clock!

This Month's Fresh Read

Food safety isn’t just a policy but a shared responsibility that connects every associate, from the production floor to leadership. Brian Ricciardo, our V.P. of Operations, wrote an article that explores how DNO built a culture where safety is second nature through daily discussions, in-house training, and empowering every team member to speak up. Discover how small, consistent habits protect consumers and strengthen trust in every bite of fresh produce.
