Celebrating Black History Month!

In honour of Black History Month, we’re coming together with our ecosystem partners to celebrate the talent, innovation, and resilience of Black entrepreneurs. Join us on February 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at TechPlace for the Black Excellence Pitch Event, where founders from both tech and main street businesses will take the stage to present their bold ideas.

Each entrepreneur will have five minutes to pitch their business to a panel of judges, receiving live feedback before the grand prize winner is announced. This event is a must-attend for investors and ecosystem partners eager to connect with emerging innovators, as well as for startups looking to learn from great pitches and expand their networks.

Join us for a night to recognize the impact of Black entrepreneurs, build connections, and support the incredible talent in our community!

TechPlace at the Mayor's State of the City Address

Last month, the TechPlace team attended the Mayor’s State of the City Address, where Mayor Marianne Meed Ward reflected on Burlington’s progress in 2024 and outlined the city's focus for the year ahead. From local procurement in infrastructure projects to a commitment to attainable housing, the discussion underscored the city's ongoing efforts to foster a strong, inclusive community.

A highlight of the event was seeing two TechPlace companies, iMatr and iris, recognized for their innovative contributions to Burlington.
