NEW & NOTABLE THIS WEEK AT COVENANT

IMAGINE WHAT'S NEXT

Immediately following worship next Sunday, January 29, 2023, newcomers to Life Alive are invited to a free pizza lunch forum with the pastors. This will be an opportunity to discuss who we are as a church and for young adults to imagine what’s next in their lives. Please RSVP here.

DENOMINATIONAL MEETINGS

The denominational meetings of the Central Congregational Society and the First Presbyterian Society will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at 11:50am following worship (hybrid) for the purpose of electing the nominees – Linda Pursley (UCC) and Sharon Wright (PCUSA) – to serve on the Nominating Committee for two years in the class of 2024.

ANNUAL MEETING

Our Annual Meeting will be Sunday, February 5, 2023 following worship.

WORSHIP IN THE STREETS, BOSTON'S WINTER WALK

Our worship service on Sunday, February 12 will be a bit different than usual. We will join in the 7th Annual Boston Winter Walk, as we walk two miles in shoulder-to-shoulder solidarity with those experiencing homelessness in our city, and re-commit ourselves to the prayerful work of housing justice. There will be 3 options: to join the walk in person at 9am; to join the walk virtually on your own; or to join in a virtual “prayer walk” at home. We are then invited to join Women’s Lunch Place for a pan-cake brunch back in Bates Hall! More details on how to register as part of COTC coming soon. Learn more about the Winter Walk at winterwalk.org

UPCOMING WORSHIP

Please join us each Sunday at 10:30am and during the special services listed below as we come together in community to pray, sing, share celebrations and concerns, and hear God’s still-speaking Word proclaimed in these Hybrid services (in-person and Zoom options). Zoom Link for each service.

LOOKING AHEAD: CLIMATE JUBILEE ALL CHURCH BOOK DISCUSSION

Join us on Sunday, February 19, 12pm following worship for a hybrid (in-person and online) book discussion on Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book Braiding Sweetgrass (indiebound.org/book/9781571313560). This could make a great CHRISTMAS GIFT to someone you’d like to invite into this discussion, or for yourself! Please though, we ask you to avoid buying from Amazon and instead use the above link to find a local bookstore if you feel safe going to in person, or a less eco-impactful company than Amazon to purchase from.

EPIPHANY EVENING PRAYERS

Join us for our weekly Wednesday evening prayers from 6:00-6:30 pm with intentional liturgy, contemplative song, psalms & sharing of prayers with our siblings from Newton Presbyterian, on Zoom.

NO PLACE AT THE INN? A CHALLENGING WINTER

For many reasons, this will be a challenging winter. One way we can help those experiencing homelessness in downtown Boston is to support our partners Women’s Lunch Place, who have an ongoing wish list for items, found here: https://womenslunchplace.org/in-kind-donations.

BIBLE STUDY WEDNESDAYS

Our weekly morning Bible Study is each Wednesday morning at 9:15am on Zoom. We have just begun reading the Gospel of Matthew. If you’d like more information or want to be on the list to get regular reminders & Zoom info, contact Jan Gough at [email protected].

OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH, & FAMILIES

The nursery is open during in-person worship, and we're continuing Godly Play, youth classes, and other special activities with kids, youth, and families. We share details via email, so let Rev. Kate know if you want to receive updates.
