"Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.” ~ Jules Renard

Hello -

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, people are experience a change of seasons as temperatures cool, colors turn, and leaves "fall away." During this time, nature's energy metaphorically lets go and moves inward preparing for winter. Our physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual aspects go through a similar experience. The fall season provides us an opportunity to let go of things that no longer serve us. It is time to step back, slow down, and take inventory of our life and ask:

What guides me with purpose along my path and who or what pulls me off course?
Who or what nurtures me or drains my energy?
Where do I find peace and what keeps me from experiencing it?

We hope you enjoy the newsletter and find it a helpful resource in supporting your health and well-being.

The Suit of the Soul
Fascia is the most sensitive, highly interconnected system in the entire body. It is considered the "life force" of the body, next to blood. Without fascia, body would be without shape, form, structure and vitality. Basically, we would be a bag of jelly.

Research is revealing fascia is made up of unique molecular crystalline structures. These living structures can create, transmit, and receive bio-photons to facilitate communication between tissues and molecules. This communication also relies upon a quantum field of bio-photons. These two processes—the crystalline and the quantum—interact to spread information around the body.

Similar to a spiderweb, fascia is wrapped throughout the body in "lines of pull" as it interweaves and connects all body parts, organs, endocrines, cells and systems. Fascia manifests and supports the body as an "integrated whole." There is no part of the body, or single cell that isn’t connected to this crystal-like lattice. Fascia plays a vital role in the following functions: respiration, cell physiology, elimination, metabolism, fluid and lymph flow, tissue repair, conversion of body heat, fat storage, physical performance, and a storage site of emotions. Fascia has it's own independent immune system.

How do we present our-self to others or specific situations? Fascia is a physical and sensory expression of how we feel and our thoughts. Its shape is a reflection of our past experiences, attitudes and patterns of behavior from fetal life to present day experiences, positive or negative.  Therefore, the fascia expresses the movement within us as well as our conflicts and confusions.

Fascia restrictions can trigger emotions such as: lack of personal power, poor self love, low self-worth, incompetency, resentment, separated from others, feeling unsupported, unable to take action, and lack of resources such as time and money. When the fascia contracts, the perception of our environment is becomes confused, disoriented, and we retreat inside with our emotions. A person may feel stuck in life entangled in an unhealthy relationship, showing up at unfulfilling job, and are afraid to take the steps necessary to change.

Rather than going with the flow in harmonious movement, we pull back. Instead of dealing with stressful situations, we carry them around in the fascia and the muscles.

Feeling Our Way Back to Peace
by guest contributor - Cedric Bertelli
Hand with compass at mountain road at sunset sky in Kazakhstan central Asia
Seeking appears to be central to the human condition.
At our core, we aspire to be at peace with ourselves, with others, to attain contentment. Like a compass, this search for contentment drives our lives and our behaviors. It fuels religious fervor; the burgeoning self-help industry, "work-a-holism," the legal and the illicit drug industries, it funds tens of thousands of yoga retreats annually and over 30,000 new users of meditation apps per day in the United States alone.

As we move through our days yearning for contentment, we experience stress, anxiety, frustration, shame, physical discomfort. We accept these as an inevitable part of life. Maneuvering through these obstacles, we constantly look for inner peace; we look for it outside of ourselves, convinced that eventually- with perseverance and some good luck- we will find the practice, or the community, or the philosophy which will open the door to our contentment. Then, we will feel fearless, healthy, safe, and fulfilled.

As ancient texts and current self-improvement gurus tell us: we already possess what we are looking for. Imagine a state of contentment and inner peace as the default for each one of us. What if all our efforts are driven by a primal need to recover a lost default state of peace?

What keeps us away from this state?
The goal-directed seeking, the cerebral effort of trying to “feel better” traps us in our own heads. We reanalyze the past and reconstruct or fear the future while ignoring the sensation of being in the present. Those of us more adept at being in the present have a tendency to be happier.

Why is this?
As humans, we have a physiological capacity for regulating negative emotions.
As described by researcher and emotion regulation specialist Luc Nicon, in his book, “Sensory Reliving”, this capacity enables us to permanently integrate disruptive emotions through an active awareness of the physical sensations associated with each emotion.
In other words, rather than trying to understand our pain or figure out how to avoid it, or how to control it, all we have to do in order to permanently resolve it, is to physically feel what constitutes our emotional pain. Our mind and body will do the rest.

The answer to our emotional difficulties is literally within each emotion.
Through the hundreds of sessions that I have done with clients based on the protocol designed by Nicon and the TiPi program, I have witnessed how any emotional struggle, stress, isolation or disconnectedness can be permanently regulated by tapping into this physiologic capacity for emotional regulation. Our body is “wired” to integrate and resolve our stresses, we just have to let it do its work.

Not surprisingly, a stress-free mind begets a healthier body.
After years of working with clients who struggle with emotional difficulties, we noticed that their chronic physical ailments, such as eczema, asthma, arthritis, tinnitus, among others, resolve or improve as they regulate their emotional distress. This finding suggested that if the body is not under chronic stress it is better empowered to fight or neutralize disease or inflammation.

Based on this observation, we developed an efficient protocol for resolving physical ailments by specifically targeting the stressors which create or exacerbate the physical symptoms. Once the stressors are identified, we can resolve them by using the natural capacity for emotional regulation.

We all have the opportunity to live a life free from pain.
We can access it when we stop running away from our fears or trying to control them. Instead, we need to take the time to observe, recognize, and accept our behavioral patterns. Once we accept them, once we physically feel our fears, we become free of them, one by one. As a result, our body becomes healthier and stronger.

It is never too early or too late to start.

Understanding the Keto

What makes the Ketogenic diet so different from many other diets is the emphasis on getting the body to enter a state known as ketosis.

Ketosis occurs when the body begins to burn ketones as an alternative fuel source when the body is low on carbohydrates. For those who begin a Ketogenic, getting the body into a state of ketosis is the goal. But not everyone on this diet is fully aware of what a ketone is, what ketones do, and what it all means for the human body.

Understanding of this information can help you be aware of how your new diet will work with your body’s systems to promote overall wellness.
