| | Dust Collection Industry News | | Canada Sodium-ion Battery Market Size, Share, Trends and Forecasts 2031 | | Sodium-ion batteries utilize sodium ions as charge carriers, offering an alternative to lithium-based technologies with potentially lower raw material costs and improved safety. In Canada, these batteries are gaining attention as a solution to the volatility of lithium prices and concerns over resource scarcity. While still maturing, sodium-ion battery technology shows promise for applications requiring large-scale energy storage, stationary power backup, and next-generation electric vehicles. The industry is focusing on overcoming challenges related to energy density, cycle stability, and manufacturing scalability. | | By 2031, sodium-ion batteries in Canada will become a mainstream energy storage solution, especially for grid stabilization, renewable energy integration, and mid-range electric vehicles. Advances in electrode materials, electrolyte formulation, and cell design will continue to improve performance metrics, enabling wider adoption. The ecosystem will benefit from increasing government incentives, strategic alliances, and growing consumer acceptance. The expansion of local supply chains and production capacity in Canada will reduce reliance on imported lithium technologies, thereby boosting regional energy resilience and economic growth. | | Rising Interest from Government and Policy Makers | Governments in Canada are implementing policies and funding programs to support sodium-ion battery research, production, and adoption. These initiatives include grants for pilot manufacturing plants, subsidies for energy storage installations, and regulatory support for alternative battery technologies. Such policy backing reduces investment risks and encourages private sector participation. Public-private partnerships are fostering innovation clusters focused on sodium-ion technology development and deployment across multiple sectors. | | Sodium-ion & Lithium-ion Batteries Share Fundamental Manufacturing Processes | Sodium-ion and lithium-ion batteries share fundamental similarities in their manufacturing processes, particularly in the core steps involved in electrode fabrication, cell assembly, and finishing. While there are differences in specific materials used, many of the production techniques and equipment can be adapted from existing lithium-ion battery manufacturing lines, making sodium-ion battery production a relatively smooth transition, according to battery manufacturers. | |
What is a Standpipe System
A standpipe system is a series of pipes at a building, connecting the water supply to hose connections. A standpipe system is an extension of the fire-hydrant system for use by firefighters or trained occupants in the event of a fire in the building.
Standpipe System Testing
Standpipe system testing in Ontario came into effect on July 1, 2018 and all building owners needed to comply by January 1, 2019 according to Ontario Regulation 108/18.

| | Downflo Evolution Dust Collectors | | Donaldson Torit Downflo Evolution dust collectors ensure cleaner air and safer battery manufacturing, delivering high-efficiency performance with 40% less space and filters than traditional systems. | | |
Donaldson’s Downflo Evolution (DFE) dust collectors are a powerful solution for managing airborne particulate in battery manufacturing facilities, particularly during operations that generate large volumes of fine and hazardous dust.
-
High-Volume Dust Collection: The DFE series is engineered to handle demanding dust loads from grinding, cutting, mixing, and other mechanical processes common in battery component production and assembly. Its advanced filtration design ensures effective capture of fine particulate to maintain air quality.
-
Optimized Filtration Efficiency: With Donaldson’s Ultra-Web® media and a unique airflow management system, the DFE delivers higher efficiency and longer filter life, helping battery manufacturers maintain consistent production quality while reducing filter changeouts and maintenance.
-
Protecting People and Equipment: By removing airborne dust at the source, Downflo Evolution units contribute to a safer workplace, reducing risks of contamination and equipment wear that can lead to downtime in sensitive battery production lines.
-
Compact and Flexible Footprint: Designed with fewer filters and a smaller footprint than traditional collectors, the DFE makes it easier to integrate into crowded or space-limited battery manufacturing environments without sacrificing performance.
-
Smart Integration and Control: With support for automated cleaning systems, differential pressure monitoring, and options for smart factory integration, the Downflo Evolution aligns well with modern battery manufacturing lines that require reliability, connectivity, and compliance with strict environmental standards.
