OR 217 south to close this weekend for ODOT paving

Southbound OR 217 will close from Canyon Road to OR 99W from 9 p.m. tonight (May 30) through 5 a.m. Monday (June 2).

All southbound on- and off-ramps will close. Southbound drivers will exit OR 217 at Canyon Road. A signed detour will direct drivers to eastbound US 26, I-405 and I-5 south.

Crews will be paving as part of the Oregon Department of Transportation's (ODOT) OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project. They will grind down old pavement and lay new asphalt. Road surfaces may be more rough until paving is complete.

This is the first of five weekend directional closures on OR 217. ODOT has tentatively scheduled the next southbound closure, between Canyon Road and OR 99W, for June 6-9. Schedules are subject to change.

Open Houses

Microtransit open house

Tell us what you think about the Microtransit Pilot Project in an online open house ending today (May 30).

In early 2026, riders in South Cooper Mountain, River Terrace and Progress Ridge areas will be able to use an app, website or phone call to schedule a microtransit shared-ride that picks up and drops off riders where they choose.

The survey asks questions to help us decide the boundaries of the service area and the best hours of operation for this innovative public transportation service.

Comment on the draft Planning Work Program 2025-27 in an online open house ending 5 p.m. today (May 30).

The Planning Work Program identifies tasks for our Development Review/Current Planning, Transportation Planning and Community Planning staff. It describes planning projects, potential land use ordinance and other activities for a two-year period.

All comments received by 5 p.m. will be provided to the Washington County Board of Commissioners prior to adoption of the final work program.

See the improvements we’re considering on Farmington Road and provide input on proposed design options during an online open house through Sunday (June 2).

We have developed initial concepts and refined them based on community and project partner feedback. The online open house has updates about several key decisions, opportunities to share feedback on potential bicycle and pedestrian facilities and more.
