Make your vehicle's emergency kit summer ready

Whether you're taking a road trip or traveling around town this summer, your vehicle should have an emergency kit that's ready for anything.

Emergency kits help keep you safe when vehicles break down or travel is stalled. Now's the time to swap out the cold-weather items for warm weather items. Make sure to inventory your first aid kit(s), including checking expiration dates on ointments, medications, etc.

Your "summer" vehicle emergency kit should include:

  • Sunscreen (Check the expiration date!)
  • Sunglasses
  • Hats with visors
  • N95 face masks (for use during smoky conditions)
  • Extra bottled or canned water (Check expiration dates!)
  • Self-stable snacks (Check expiration dates!)

In addition to first aid kits, year-round items should include:

  • Cell phone charger
  • Blankets
  • Flashlights and batteries
  • Sturdy footwear
  • Reflective clothing
  • Road flares or reflective hazard triangle
