Are you spring cleaning? If you're planning a yard sale, make sure advertising signs are not placed in the public right-of-way.
Temporary signs like yard sale, political and real estate signs are not allowed in the public right-of-way in unincorporated Washington County. This includes the road, ditches, shoulders and sidewalks. Signs cannot be attached to traffic signposts, streetlights, utility cabinets or utility poles.
Temporary signage can block traffic signs, signals and pedestrian access. They are prohibited from being in the right-of-way by state law and County resolution.
If you plan on posting signs make sure they are your private property, or that you have the permission of the property owner where they would be placed.
