It may feel like fall is upon us, but road crews are still hard at work! Don’t get complacent around work zones. Slow down and pay attention when you see orange signs in the roads.
Construction on several transportation improvement projects is still underway. Our road crews are still working on bridge, drainage, striping and vegetation maintenance.
You may encounter slow moving maintenance vehicles and workers in and around travel lanes during this work. When you see a work zone, always:
- Obey all traffic and construction signs
- Pay attention to messages and directions on electronic reader boards
- Look for traffic pattern changes
- Be patient and follow directions when flaggers are present
- Check your blind spots and move early when signs or flaggers tell you a lane is closed
- Never cut off trucks or buses and leave extra space
- Never move signs to get around road or lane closures
