It's planting season! Share the road with farm equipment

Farmers are busy preparing their fields and sowing seeds this spring, which means there's more slow-moving farm equipment on the roads.

Use caution and patience and stay alert when traveling near slow-moving vehicles in rural areas.

Orange triangular signs on equipment mean the vehicles are traveling slowly - at 25 mph or less. Slow down right away when you see these sign. At highway speed, it takes just 15 seconds to overtake a tractor traveling at 15 mph.

Crashes with farm equipment often happen when the equipment operator is trying to turn left. Equipment operators may pull to the right to align with a driveway or street on the left. Vehicle drivers may think the equipment is allowing them to pass.

Only pass farm equipment when it is safe to do so. Check that the oncoming lane is clear of traffic and that the equipment isn't too wide to pass.

Support transit safety, access improvements on TV Hwy

Show your support for the Tualatin Valley Highway Safety and Transit Project which will improve transit access safety, enhance rider experience and improve speed and reliability. 

Take the survey to provide input on five projects eligible for $88.5 million in bond funding that Metro is considering as part of the Regional Flexible Funding Allocation. Combined, the five eligible projects total $120 million – 26% more than the proposed bond funds. Your input can help Metro decide which projects to fund. 

The proposed Tualatin Valley Highway Safety and Transit Project will improve transit access safety, enhance rider experience and improve speed an reliability. All stations will be paired with enhanced pedestrian crossings or traffic signals. 

The bond funding request for the Tualatin Valley Highway Transit Project construction is $30 million, This funding would be used as part of the local funding share needed to match a $150 million Federal Administration Capital Investment Grant. This $30 million match funding is critical to moving this project forward.

Show your support for this important project and complete the survey before April 30. 

Share comments on projects proposed for project funding

Metro is asking the public to complete an online survey on projects proposed for 2028-30 Regional Flexible Fund Allocation (RFFA) grant funding.

Cities and counties in the Portland Metro area have submitted 24 applications - including nine submitted by jurisdictions in Washington County, requesting $139 million in RFFA funds. Anticipated available funding is $47 million-$60 million. Learn more

Talk with the project team about updates to the Thompson Road Project at an open house, 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 14 at Cedar Mill Library, 1080 NW Saltzman Road. 

We are improving Thompson Road, between the Saltzman and Marcotte roads, with bike lanes, sidewalks and a center turn lane. We will also install streetlights and storm drains. 

Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026.
