The leaves are falling, and the rainy season is upon us. That’s a perfect cocktail for clogged storm drains and flooding!
Help out your neighborhood by grabbing a rake and checking the storm drains near your home.
Here’s how to do it safely:
🍂 Remove leaves and debris along the curbs within 10 feet of the drain.
🙌 Wear gloves to protect your hands, but use a shovel or rake to move leaves.
🍁 Never lift a storm drain grate.
🍃 Stay alert! Look out for vehicles, and wear bright colors to be seen.
Leaves, grass, and other vegetation can be bagged and placed in a yard waste container.
If your storm drain is still getting clogged after you cleaned it, contact Clean Water Services at 503-542-8100.
