Watch for Children Biking and Walking this Summer Break

Now that the school year has come to a close, you'll see more children on bikes, sidewalks and roads throughout the day. You may notice more children around parks and recreation centers in particular.

As always, drive with caution. Scan roads, sidewalks and adjacent properties for any children or pedestrians near your lane. Remember that children may make unexpected or quick actions. Children at play may run into the road without notice. Children on bikes may be more likely to swerve or turn suddenly.

Slow down and stay alert in neighborhoods and near parks. Try to make eye contact with pedestrians who are crossing the street so they are aware of your approach. Stay visible and use your headlights.

Keep children safe and share the road this summer!
