The Elwert Road and Kruger Road Intersection Project received a 2022 Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Oregon.
The award names both Washington County and HDR Inc., the project engineering firm. It recognizes innovation, complexity, achievement and value.
The city of Sherwood, Sherwood School District and Washington County funded the $21.5 million project.
“This project improves traffic flow and safety for all travelers," said Joe Younkins, Capital Project Services Division Manager.
The project included a roundabout, traffic signals, stormwater treatment and sidewalks. Improvements to Elwert, Kruger and Haide roads, Orchard Hill Lane, Sunset Boulevard and Highway 99 were also included.
Construction finished in October 2021.
