Washington County Celebrates the Launch of SPOT

Washington County leaders, community members, and transportation partners gathered at Amity Orchards' affordable housing community to celebrate the official launch of SPOT Southwest.

SPOT is a free, on-demand transit service connecting the neighborhoods of Southwest Beaverton and River Terrace and TriMet’s Washington Square Transit Center.

The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, remarks from local leaders, and a ride aboard the SPOT shuttle.

SPOT Southwest began service on January 5 and is designed to fill a critical gap in transit access for rapidly growing neighborhoods.

Buckle Up, Buttercup - Safety Starts with You

Now through Feb. 8, Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies are actively looking for seat belt and child safety seat violations as part of a statewide safety campaign.

Seatbelt Basics:

Buckle up every time.
Lap belts should fit low and snug across your hips.
Shoulder belts should be over the shoulder —not touching your neck.

Child Safety Guide:

Children must ride rear-facing until age 2.
Continue using a child safety seat until they weigh 40 pounds or meet the highest requirement for their seat.
After that, use a booster seat until the adult seat belt fits correctly—typically when a child reaches 4'9" tall.
