Celebrating 40 Years of Connecting People and Places

Washington County’s Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP) is celebrating a huge milestone this year — 40 years of connecting people and places.

Since kicking off in the neon bright 1980s (back when cassette tapes ruled and Back to the Future made us all dream of hoverboards), MSTIP has delivered more than 160 transportation projects and invested over $1.35 billion in community improvements.

Over the last four decades, you’ve likely traveled MSTIP projects without even knowing it.

Major projects have included:

  • Major revamp of Cornelius Pass Road
  • Multi-phase improvements along Walker Road
  • Two generations of improvements to Tualatin-Sherwood Road
  • Safety and traffic flow upgrades on Farmington Road

This summer, we’re celebrating MSTIP40, you’ll find us at community festivals and family-friendly gatherings across Washington County.

Road Maintenance 101

Slurry Seal Schedule Now Live

Our slurry seal paving schedule for this season is now available. Slurry seal is one of the key treatments used each summer to protect pavement, slow aging, and extend the life of neighborhood streets.

Slurry seal is the second stage of a two‑step process. Crack sealing is completed first to prevent water from getting under the roadway. Slurry seal follows as the final protective layer, which is why some streets appear twice on the schedule.

Crews will begin slurry seal application across the County starting July 20.

Weather, staffing, and material availability may affect timing, so please check the Paving: 2026 Schedule page regularly for updates and newly posted segments.

Road Closures & Traffic Advisories

Cornelius Pass Road Bridge Replacement at Rock Creek

Washington County and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will be replacing the Cornelius Pass Road bridge over Rock Creek.

Originally built in 1946, the existing bridge remains functional, but it was not designed to support modern vehicles. The new single-span bridge will include two vehicle lanes and wide shoulders, and will accommodate heavy trucks and cargo.

A full road closure is required to remove and replace the bridge.

Cornelius Pass Road will be closed between Germantown Road and Kaiser Road from July 15 to September 29.
