Swap Out Studded Tires by March 31

Oregon drivers have until March 31 to remove their studded tires for the season. After that date, using them on public roads can result in a $165 fine.

State law allows studded tires from Nov. 1 through March 31 each year. While they can improve traction in winter conditions, they also cause wear and tear on roadways.

Over time, studs create ruts where water can collect, and when temperatures drop, those wet areas can freeze. This makes roads more slippery and contributes to additional damage.

If spring weather brings snow after April 1, drivers still have options. Chains, snow-rated all season tires, and other approved traction devices are all allowed when conditions require them.

149th Avenue Improvements: See What's Planned

We’re getting ready to make 149th Avenue safer and more comfortable for everyone.

Construction is set to begin in late summer/early fall to add a much‑needed section of sidewalk on the east side of 149th Avenue between Farmington Road and Watershed Lane.

The project also includes important stormwater drainage upgrades to help the neighborhood manage runoff more effectively.

During construction, 149th Avenue will stay open, but travel will be limited to one‑way southbound between Farmington Road and SW 6th Street to keep crews and travelers safe.
