With a stretch of sunny days ahead, it’s a great time to get involved and help influence regional and state transportation investments in Washington County.

Whether you’re interested in serving on an advisory committee, learning about upcoming local improvements, or weighing in on major statewide projects, your voice matters.

Below are three ways to get involved:

1. Join the Northwest Area Commission on Transportation (NWACT)

Are you passionate about shaping the future of transportation in northwest Oregon?

NWACT is seeking two At-Large members to represent Washington County (including Banks).

This advisory body plays a key role in prioritizing transportation projects, establishing a public process for project selection, and influencing the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

Why Apply?

Help address regional transportation issues across Columbia, Clatsop, Tillamook, and western Washington County
Provide input on all aspects of transportation—surface, marine, air, and safety
Make a real impact on the state transportation system

Details:

Vacancies: 2 positions
Term: 2 years
Time Commitment: 3–5 hours every other month
Meetings: Second Thursday, 1:00–3:30 PM, every other month

2. Learn About Blanton Street Improvements

Construction on Blanton Street is expected to begin in early March and continue through the fall.

Upcoming upgrades:

Multiuse path for walking and biking
Buffered bike lane and wider sidewalk
Better lighting, drainage, and landscaping

3. Participate in ODOT's Online Open House

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is inviting the community to weigh in on its 2027–2030 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

See what’s planned: Explore proposed upgrades to roads, bridges, bike lanes, sidewalks, and transit routes
Speak up: Share your priorities directly with ODOT and the Oregon Transportation Commission
Make an impact: Your feedback helps decide how millions of state and federal transportation dollars are invested

NOTE: Neighborhood Meeting information is provided as a courtesy only. Developers are required to hold Neighborhood Meetings prior to submitting certain land use applications. These meetings serve as a forum for the developer, Community Participation Organizations (CPOs), property owners within 500 feet in urban areas or 1,000 feet in rural areas, and any other interested parties, to discuss the proposal before an application is submitted to the County. County staff do not schedule these meetings nor attend them.
